I know there is a buying and selling section but no one relevant to this item would see it there so here it is. 2 Tickets to Krafty Kuts at Cable on 5th November. £12 each. May have more if I choose not to go.

Pretty sick line-up and Cable is always rocking.

Are these tickets still available? If so, I'll take them!!

Thinking about moving after school with maybe one or two guys. I was there until I was six and lived in Ealing, but I think that would be too upmarket for a freshman without many qualifications...
But are there any areas that are decent for a few youngs guys? My mate lives up in Harpendon up North, but that's too far away.
Just confirming about the postal areas - NW4 is the 4th postal area north-wet of the city centre, and E1 is the clostest postal area east? And once you get into the city centre (is that where the toll is?) there are even more areas? Am I right?

Harpenden? I mean I might move there when I'm 55. Nice enough village town but you're not living in London. No hang on, when I'm retired, I wont be living in Harpenden - more like San Sebastian.

As for postcodes, it's not quite how you think. If it worked as you describe, E1, E2, E3, etc.. then the postcode map would look like a big circle with concentric bands for postcodes. I live 100 metres from the boundary of N1, N5 and N7.

The congestion zone falls well outside of EC and WC postcode boundaries.

This will help... http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi..._postcodes.png

Your budget will dictate where you can live. Being straight out of school, I can't imagine you're going to have truck loads of coin because jobs for people in your position aren't exactly abundant, so I'd get used to the idea of you and your mates sharing a 4 bedroom house with 8 people unless you have some other way of getting by.

'My mate and his family' I should have said.
Yeah true last paragraph. I might do some tertiary work, but then I'll have to start saving again. Ah well, better in the long run.
Are there any cheap areas that are liveable though (even though I don't have a budget yet...)?

Cheap? In London, compared to Australia. Not really. So many factors.

Work out a budget then come back. You'd be mad just moving over without an idea of what you can spend weekly in your situation.

I'll finish off school first, then work out where I'm heading with this idea.
I got a few things in between A and B to worry about though.

I know you've probably got plans but if you can bring your arrival forward then you'll hit the British spring which is arguably better then the summer and you get to see how the whole nations mood changes with the seasons.

yeh ideally we were hoping between march - april. but we just cant afford it till at least June. which is a shame, but, we are moving indefinitely (me and my gf both have british passports) so we'll have to watch London got from this happy go lucky city, then turn to shit when the olympics comes round, then turn fkn miserable once the colder months kick in

i was over there in May this year for a week and absolutely fell in love with the place.

cant wait.

I just hope we get a bit of luck with work and find a decent place to stay relatively quickly so the money we save, can actually go to a weekend in Paris or something rather than paying for rent/living

Seriously, it isn't that bad. If you want hardcore misery, then fuck off to Moscow during the winter months and even then it's not the end of the world. There's plenty of great things to be done and yes, some people get grumpy, but the way some of you flaccid folk talk about it, would make you think everyone had Chlamydia or something.

clapham, shepherds bush area would be my fav place, alot of aussies so making friends is easy,

there are some good clubs central london such as picadilly institute pascha etc, but even better clubs out toward hackney, brick lane hardly no tourists

The 1 thing i miss about london is the public transport, tube system through the day and constant flow of buses through the night

Can def use your Aussie drivers license as ID anywhere...most of the time they don't even check it unless you really look 15. To the contrary, I've seen 15 year olds in the clubs off their heads anyway.

i have a question about guarantors for letting agencies.

i've just been offered a room in Brighton (not London I know), and i'm curious if there's any chance to arrange a guarantor who is not living in the UK.

i'm looking online and it seems the general consensus is they need to be based/living in the UK - but perhaps there's a way around it?

if anyone has some information on it or experiences in the past, this would be a great help

They normally want someone who owns a house in the Uk and can prove they have the income to cover your rent in the case you dont. So its a pretty big ask for someone to go guarantor. We didnt have a guarantor when we got a lease on a flat, so we had to pay 6 months up front. Thats the only other option we were provided with.
I'm surprised that they are asking for a guarantor for a room rather than a whole flat. Is is arranged through an estate agent?
Brighton is great, not a problem to live there, its quite easy and takes around a hour to get to london - just as long as you arent planning to commute to london from Brighton, then it might get a bit expensive

Find a private landlord. Or better yet, find a room for rent where you dont have to sign anything.

it is arranged through a real-estate and they've mentioned they'll be liable for the rent of the house, not the room. my cousin has said he 'might' be able to help, but it is quite a big risk to fork out lots of ££ if something goes wrong (while i'm sure it won't, you never know and some things can't be helped).

brighton is great, i've been here two weeks and already found work and a place to live so easily - such a refreshing change from london.

Returning to the UK for a second stint in May and dead excited. Looking to move to the Fulham area this time - closer to Central London, Stamford Bridge etc.

Looks like I've got a job lined up too!
