Been listening to Kevin Smith's "Fat man on Batman" podcast, he was talking about what they should do next with Batman now that Nolan's finished his series of films and he was talking about the idea of doing a reboot with a black Batman, and having Idris Elba as Batman.... I'm watching Luther right now and reckoning that would be pretty fucking awesome.

But seriously, Smith wasn't saying it just to court controversy. Can you seriously give me a reason why not? There's no real reason that Batman/Bruce Wayne has to be white, and Elba would be a fucking bad-ass Batman.

Smith touched on that too, said if they were going to do it they should do it properly and just reboot with a black Batman, not go with Batwing which is a bit of a cop-out. Not that it's in the pipeline or anything, I just thought it was a pretty cool idea.

Why doesn't he just relax his little geeky socks and let it rest for a decade then come back to it and come it with some fresh ideas when everyone gives a fuck again. That's how these things usually work.

To come close to matching Nolan might as well leave it two decades.

I mean, if it makes a bunch of money and the story is left open ended, then I assume Warner will throw everything at Nolan to make a 4th one.

my local Hoyts (and most Hoyts) are doing batman begins, the dark knight and TDKR all in one go and to the premiere at midnight. never done the marathon at the cinema thing, might have to doze during Batman begins.

Really? Begins is a much better film. Without Heath Ledger's performance, The Dark Knight would have been an average film.

bale is an excellent bruce wayne and he does the action scenes well as batman but yeah his "menacing" voice is stupid. But is that his own idea or is he doing it under instructions from nolan? its one of the few missteps in the nolan version

You heard Banes original voicing when the 1st trailer came out for TDKR - and next to no one could understand what was being said?

That has lead me to believe Nolan is partially deaf. They should just dub over Bales voice with Kevin Conroys!

of course Bruce can't use his normal voice when he's Batman, he's got to put on some sort of voice (and prob wouldn't want to trust some sort of voice modulator in case it broke in the middle of a fight). Agreed his Batman voice is a bit corny but it really is such a little thing.


In more important matters, I still haven't been able to book tickets yet, just checked again this morning and the only session I can book for online is the midnight / opening screening and I'd prefer a more civilised time

What cinema are you seeing it at? I'm going Hoyts and you book for the next month if you'd like.

I re-watched Begins the other night and found it a tad dull TBH. I like the lead up where he's learning the skills but the stuff in Gotham not so much. No chemistry between Bruce and whatsherface either it seems. IMO The Dark Knight has a much better story and characters.
