Slowest cab ride in the history of everything means I'm in Sydney for another night. Credit card wigging out meant that I had to pay cash + deposit for hotel room.

On the upside the nice man at qantas customer service cancelled and rebooked my flight for tomorrow morning even though it was a red-e-deal fare and not a fully-flexible.

A question for goobi.

I have a board, pants, gloves, goggles. All I need is a jacket and boots. For the boots, do all boots fit all board binding sizes? Would I need to take my board into a ski shop when trying on boots?

A question for goobi.

firstly whatever regular shoe size you are, you need to take1 to 1.5 sizes off that for your boot. When you try your boots on, your toes should be touching the end of the toe box just a bit. If you are buying boots, id buy them a week before you leave and wear them around the house for an hour a day. You want to do them up nice and tight too. The first few hours will not be super comfortable, but they wear in. If you have cash to splash, id pick up some of the latest (this season or last) Nike boots, theyre sexy as fuck and the most comfy boots you'll wear, ready to go from day one.

In terms of the bindings, there are a few sizes to match feet. Assuming your feet are reasonably big, you'd want a M-L or maybe even XL size binding, but generally you can get ones that will cover anything from a size 9 boot to a 12. You won't need your board to get fitted for boots/bindings, but Burton do a range of bindings that only fit Burton boards, so you couldnt use them for a regular pattern board.

Are you looking at buying boots and bindings and what kind/size board do you have?

Bummer. Pretty sure Bism would have broke if he stayed for a couple more rounds. Last night was awesome.

I was feeling pretty good during dinner and probably could've gone with couple more rounds of soju. On the bus ride the alcohol-splints kicked in hard (blocked nose, breathing hard, increased heart-rate) which settled down by the time I got off the bus and drove home. Was about to get into the shower and I was all 'fuck yeah I don't feel like spewing'..................bleaaaaaargh.

That hasn't happened for a while, same venue combination as last time it happened but it didn't take as much this time.

Soju. So good.

No, bindings have sizes M, L etc. I'm assuming you have bindings as well as the board? The bindings will have a size on them, if they are burton bindings the size is on the inside of the toe cap, look this up on the website for that brand and it will tell you what size boots they fit. Generally a L is 9+ or something. I know my boots fit both M & L in Burton bindings.

Nope, no need for your board if you've checked out the above.

MAJOR TIP - When buying boots try on as many different types as possibly until you find the ones right for your feet. Boots are the single most important part of your set up and shit pair of bad fitting boots will hinder your development and make your day suck.

Take a look at boardworld.com.au if you want some really useful advice, the guys there are really helpful and friendly. More than happy to answer any more questions just not online all the time at the moment as I'm OS so PM if you want.

Not true, depends on the brand however as I said above try on as many different boots as possible before buying.

Bad advice, a good pair of boots will fit correctly and shouldn't hurt. My latest pair of boots I bought one day went help boarding in the next and they were comfy as fuck.

Bad advice, again find the boots that are right for your feet (hey they might be these but they also probably won't be.

Spoiler:
are you getting the idea of trying on lots of boots yet?

Yep, the only thing I'd add here is if you have really big feet I hope you bought a wide board otherwise heel drag may be an issue.

I'm assuming you already have bindings which are already attached to the board however if you haven't got binding yet don't buy Burton EST bindings unless you have a Burton EST board. If you do have a Burton EST board nice work! It's a great system.

I had this when we rented some gear at Perisher a few years back. I think I was an XL because my shoe size is 15 (13 dress shoes) so it was a bit of a bitch. You do get used to it, but best avoided.
I'll have to think about this all when I go to grab some gear in Vancouver at the end of the year.

WTF, why you doing that one so early in training? Didn't you just do your 21km?

Most training plans call for a couple of 20 milers (32km) in the later stages, after building up to them. That sounds a bit cray.

Not many marathon training programs call for the texas method, either. Scotty is cray. All that cuddling has gone to his head I think.
