15km spontaneous half pissed bike ride along a few of the lakes, cos the sun was still up at 9pm.

Was riding my mates bike, chain came off twice while pegging it up steep hills. Total almost mong again,half my luck.

Did the run. Took it easy at a slower pace but got through 3km at Manly Beach. Calves should be ok within a few days.
I've totally forgotten how difficult sand running is compared to on the pavement. Need to basically act like a gazelle the whole time and bounce around.

Giney, do you wear shoes while doing it?

Yeah, but it wasn't squishy beach sand, it was a trail. A little bit of give in it, but not as much as an actual beach.

Be careful not to anger your Achilles by doing too much of that suddenly. Keep your calves stretched/massaged/foam rollered

Yep, went a lot easier than I could have for that reason. I remember pushing myself too hard on the sand last time and needing more than a week to recover.
Any suggestions on particular shoes? I've got Kayanos for normal road running but looking for something light that doesn't absorb too much water. Not too keen on Vibrams though, I'd like at least a little bit of support.

tbh, I would have thought that you'd be better off using a pair of knockabout shoes, like volleys or something. Chances are they'll be shagged in pretty short order.

provides, but that is NOT impressive...at all.
