Here at ‘The Breakfast Club’ headquarters, (I can safely say) we are extremely excited to be announcing our September Event, which will see us host one of the most revered of the list of prominent acts, which we have attracted to The Breakfast Club series thus far.

That’s right, We are very proud to be bringing you Germany’s Deep House Legends, Tiefschwarz for this very special up close and intimate show at New Guernica, On Friday 7th of September.

This will be our 7th instalment of The Breakfast Club series and with all signs pointing to this being our biggest show yet. Plus the fact of that, our past few events being at full capacity - The Breakfast Club has very quickly become one of the hottest brands in town - Delivering show after show with huge crowds, awesome vibes, & some of the worlds elite djs, let alone some of the best club sound that Melbourne has to offer.



TIEFSCHWARZ (GER)

Born and bred in Stuttgart, brothers Ali & Basti Schwarz, formed Tiefschwarz in 1997. Rapid success ensued with their debut single, ‘Music’ releasing on Francois K’s ‘Wave Music’ label, followed by the album Ral 9005 (eventually licensed to the London label Classic Recordings). Following a move to Berlin, they remixed the likes of Cassius, The Rapture, Missy Elliott, Kelis and Masters At Work followed by the crossover hit remix of Spektrum’s ‘Kinda New’ and the single ‘Isst’ off their 2005 long-player, ‘Eat Books’. Never allowing themselves to be tied down to a certain sound, their love of melody was demonstrated on their edition of the Fabric mix series.

A series of high profile mixes for Depeche Mode, Madonna, Roxy Music, Booka Shade, Phonique, Plastikman, dOP, saw them perfect their distinctive sound. Tiefschwarz then launched their own label, Souvenir. Basti explains “We like the idea of seeing music as a souvenir, an impression you take from somewhere. Something intimate that you remember”. They haven’t let this slow down their impressive production workload though, with a ten year anniversary compilation, and a 2010 follow up album, ‘Chocolate’, featuring Cassy, Seth Troxler, Dave Aju and more.

Early this year the brothers proudly contributed the ninth instalment in the Watergate mix series. After years of constant touring, however, their Souvenir label has allowed them to lay down more permanent roots and settle back in Berlin. There is promise of plenty yet to come in 2012 & beyond for the Schwarz brothers’ imprint.

Finally I can see them live, count me in for sure.

Tiefschwarz have always been a front runner in electronic music over the time I've been around the traps.
I remember the hype was mental on their first visit to AU probs 10 years ago.
They've stood the test of time and are now pretty much legends.

Props to them, can't wait to see them for the first time myself!

Saw them a few times in 2006 and again in 2008 and they were brilliant (06 in particular when it was equal parts deep house and rough electro -> tecchier stuff).

I've not been really taken by anything recently.

Can anyone recommend a good recent set?

Same for me bruno. Saw him that space in 2005 and they proper banged it out. One of them played electric deluxe and then kreck soon after.

Really wasn't expecting that. I expect they'll be playing pretty cool Berghain sorta stuff now

I remember seeing them both play at Summadayze a while ago... Maybe 2003? Was the same year as Richie and Magda at sunshine people, I think.

It was 2006. They closed the One Love stage (I think) over two hours and destroyed the place.

Yes, it may be possible PLUS MORE one day.. might just see what the future holds on the next tour tho LIR..

however for this years the date is set, the party ready to rock, and from everything i have seen and heard from Tiefschwarz of late, it has been great..

Plus for those who remember - last time TIEFSCHWARZ (Ali) played for Darkbeat - he totally rocked it.. -- (Still remember it well - Alongside Ben Watt) -- Pretty sure the recording of his set should be somewhere too.. 1 hour of it was featured here on here as apart of ITM FM for the Becks Berlin Sessions (if thats correct).. Anyhow.. Tiefschwarz is going to rock it and will be yet another killer night at 'The Breakfast Club'

We are super excited to announce that we have very special international guest MARCOS PAZ (PACHA / ARG) joining us alongside TIEFSCHWARZ (Ali) This Friday night.

Coming all the way over form Argentina, Marcos Paz is the head Resident from one of the worlds most renown clubs, - club 'PACHA' Buenos Aires..

This will be Marcos' first tour down under and is set to show Melbourne what the Argentinians are made of.. (oh yes, its the good stuff)





MARCOS PAZ (ARGENTINA) [PACHA]

Marcos has been mixing since he was 15 years old. The 24th of may he’ll turn 29, justifying his 15 years of expirience behind the turntables.

He has worked as resident at the most prestigious clubs in the dance scene, such as CLUB PACHA, mixing for 3.000 people, EL DIVINO, CAIX, etc. He has also traveled many times to Baricloche, every winter, working as resident at SKI RANCH.

In the year 2003, Marcos was invited to participate in the most important festival of INTERNATIONAL ELECTRONICAL MUSIC that has taken place in Bs. As., CREAMFIELDS. Where he played at the VIP TENT, with other fellow argentinan dj’s , sucha as ZUCKER and the worldwide known HERNAN CATTANEO, and with international dj’s such as SANDER KLEINENBERG.

During the summer of 2004 he traveled to the argentinian coast, where he was the warm up at Villa Gessel @ PUEBLO LIMITE, where that same evening he mixed next to MIKE PARSONS (in charge of EUKATECH). In this same cabin and during the same time, LAYO & BUSCHWAKA, known dj’s and producers, played. HERNAN CATTANEO, was also invited to the scene.

After so mucho effort and enthusiasm, Marcos has gained his space in the argentinian dance scene, transforming himself as the number 1 resident at the main floor at PACHA CLUBLAND since 2004.

Marcos has been in charge of recieveing great international DJ’S, such as the Spanish WALLY LOPEZ, the brazilian GABO, the bristish MIKE PARSONS, NILS HESS and the young resident form PACHA @ IBIZA, SARAH MAIN.

Marcos is responsible of entertaining the dancefloor, becoming the DJ GUEST every saturday night at PACHA CLUBLAND, creating and exquisite environment, transmitting to the guests his deep musical message, fusing between TECH & PROGRESSIVE, always with house as his main root. His style is the result of a past filled with rock bands music, such as The Clash, The Cure and The Passengers, while his inspiration for a funky rhythm & percussion are product of REGGAE & DUB sounds.

Definitely, he has PACHA as his godfather, his future is promising, with great intentions of going abroad, establishing projects with SOUTH & CENTRAL AMERICA.

Marcos is now developing his producing side next to his fellow co-worker and producer CAN COSTA aka Ricky Ryan (MUSIC is Freedom UK, MINING VINYL USA)

Marcos Paz is a name to have in mind for the future of the dance scene worldwide.
