ftr I wasn't having a go, although I see how you may think so. Just saying that of the pubs that I've been to I've never seen people doing work except for people who actually work there. So it's unique/unusual to me and I'll probably go 'ooooh'/'aaaah' like a kid at a zoo. Plus I never knew that at least Sydney pubs have free wifi.

Pubs that have pokies or cater to league supporters - was that supposed to be an insult? Sydney people generally don't give a fuck if there are pokies unlike people from other States.

It's not surprising - the easiest way to compromise security is via people - that's why those Indian scammers keep ringing, because they know it works.

I've (professionally) rang up internal IT staff in some of the companies our software runs in, explained who I was, and with no qualms they've given away the root password over the phone. I've then had to say "I don't want the root password, I don't want to know it, and you should go and change it" ... when all I wanted was limited shell access and for them to email me (in at least two broken up emails to my corporate account) access details.

Jesus christ seven digits! His password may have been Too Strong.
