Looks like Allen is to be announced in the next 24 hours.

Was in the Directors box during the match this morning.

15m apparently.

Prob a couple more than I would have expected to pay, but not completely over the odds for a CM who already understands the gaffers system and has been successful in the EPL already.

Expensive but it brings the managers vision a bit closer immediately. Plus it gives him some loyalists in the team if he changes it too much and pisses people off (i.e. AVB/Chelsea)

Someone who you will get about 5-6 years from imo.

Long term would be someone you will get 10 years from or be able to on-sell at some point.

Short term would be a player who is close to 30 and will likely only give you 2-3 years of possible quality and are unlikely to be able to on-sell.

i like him. big improvement on henderson, shelvey & adam and will be perfect with lucas & gerrard. good defensively, good on the ball, hard worker and can beat players too. will be a good player for us. just want to get it done already so we can strengthen upfront

need a better player to replace downing in the front 3 and another striker would be nice too. we are way too light upfront at the moment. not sure why we got rid of all our good bench players and kept all the crap ones like spearing, adam, carroll & cole...

i hope carroll realises that he has no place at the club and takes up west ham's offer so we can get some better players in

I think he had a pretty big impact on the club as a whole though, moral and all that jazz. Plus he scored against some crabs (Leeds I think) late in the game to take them through to the next round.
