Well... all up - what a faarkin' day & night! SIS Smashing 7hrs and refusing to get off the decks for a Rollin Connection & Dave Pham close (might I add - two true professionals waiting calmly until it was evident SIS was not leaving!) really was one of our favorite gigs of the year.
To be totally honest - we we're shitting our pants - online pre-sales were slow being a Sunday Day Party and everyone being so relaxed about organising gigs to attend on a sunday as there are many things 'the day of rest' can offer in our awesome city of Melbourne. Even our promoters were being very very vague about numbers of tickets shifted (partly to do with most of them not having the ability to even count to ten as they spent most of the week trying to compete with Ozzy Osbourne's Hay Day alcohol & narcotic performances) however, as the day drew closer, the numbers came through really well and we we're totally over the moon how well the gig was supported by the team, the venue and even people who weren't necessarily a part of the promotional team but just wanted to chip in and see that the Solar Launch was a good day. Even one of our mates managed to shift 3 tickets to his barista Sunday morning - what a weapon. Special mention goes to Marcy. We thought the BBQ would be a nice addition however it was evident most people had a big Saturday and some still going from Thurs/Fri !!
We'll take this opportunity to say thank you to all the sick****s that helped and the mad****s that had a visably dayyyumm good time. There was an incredible cross section of people from all over the world - nutters from every corner of the globe and for once, the Aussies & the English we're a minority! Crazy Columbians, Bonkers Brazilians, Psychotic Swedish, Cabbadged Canadians, Gurning Germans and Twisted Turks! The only ones missing we're The Inca's.
Massive Massive Massive amounts of respect & thanks to the local lineup. We were very very excited to secure the locals for Solar and in a way, more excited to have these legends together on one day than having the honour of hosting such an incredible international act - SIS. Mike Callander, Darius Bassiray (and his new levels of communication

Luke McD, Dave Pham, Rollin Connection - Banko, Aram, Walter Juan, Timmus, Matt Turner, Kenan Huric & Oliver James - all weapons and all very welcome back

The rooftop music from 3pm - 11pm was absolutely faultless. Funky, Chunky, Deep, Dark, Bright & Right ON POINT. Particularly loved the chance to drop a few tunes with Hurricane Huric in a b2b tech house session on the roof and dropping Pete Heller's - Big Love (cheesy in any normal session, but timing and mood saw the track through) with an awesome response from the 90 strong ravers on roof still dancing during a good rainshower! McD is a Fluidlife favorite and always will be and his summer-funk-warming set really vibed the roof for what felt to be a day partying whilst your on holiday overseas!
Main Room - WOW. Had a little predicament about getting the crazy f*ckers on the roof to come down for SIS's start at 8pm so after nipping out for a ciggy and thinking if the heavens open right now, that may motivate a few peeps to get downstairs. The heavens opened. Decided to head to the roof and check out the situation. Had they gone downstairs? No - they just busted out umbrellas! FCKN Awesome! Vibe alive and game on again! Whilst heading to the main floor you could see the room filling to the sound of SIS tearing into the OneSixOne system and delivering a show of music comparable to some of the great stories written by the worlds best innovative authors.
Well... Enough of us crapping on. Take a look at some of the photo's and the video's of SIS's mid set tunes & fantastic closing track.
Thanks again. See you again very very soon
