Horse said the players told Morton earlier in the season that they didn't trust him to make the effort for forward pressure, once he had changed his attitude and showed he was willing to give that effort, the players themselves told Horse they wanted him in the team. But if a team is winning and playing well collectively sometimes good players can't get in.

Had one game this year where he had more than ten disposals.

Average player is average.

If they could do a deal that involved Morton to get Tippett they would do it in a heartbeat, Adelaide wouldn't take Morton though.

He kicked two important goals in both the qualifying final and the grand final. Why does it matter if he didn't get above 10 touches? He's a forward. Any club would take a forward that only gets 6 kicks a game if they were all goals for example.

He dominated the twos, and with the right work this pre season he could kick 50+ goals next year.

I'm not saying he's a great player by any means, but then the Swans (in fact most teams) don't have too many great players. It's about playing a role though, and he played his role really well in the finals: if he wasn't effecting tackles he was putting pressure on the opposition's defence which rushed their disposal and he kicked a few goals as well.

And very few forwards get a heap of possessions. Possession stats aren't a good measurement for forwards.

I can only go on what I've seen of him. And I've only seen what he has done in the Swans first team. And in that respect, he was a really good player for us in the finals. Maybe he is average and the finals were the exception that prove the rule, but if he plays like that for the Swans on a regular basis then he will be a good player for us.

Sorry was aimed at Derps 50 goal statement and Mitch Morton killing it in the NEAFL.

He kicked 41 goals with Richmond. There's no reason he can't do better with the Swans potent midfield delivering to him.

Yeah, can't see him kicking 50+ for us. 30+ is doable though, and would be handy.

Depends on what his application is from here. If he thinks he's done it all now and can't be bothered then there is a very big possibility I will have to Wiki him to remember who he was, just like I had to then for Ellen.

Can't believe we've gone all year without anyone mentioning about how hot are the Swans female support staff on the boundary line. There's a blonde one with a Scottish accent - she's the team nutritionist, another blonde but with long hair - she's mainly doing the rub-downs on the players' legs with the help of a brunette.

Dat Scottish accent.

For the Swans fans:

AFL 360, on Fox Footy, did an amazing montage of the Grand Final using a couple of great bits of music (one of which is below - I don't know what the other one was), some of the key moments, and overdubbed with commentary from all the TV and radio broadcasters.

It really is awesome, well worth having a look if you have Foxtel (I'm sure they'll replay it over the next few days), but unfortunately I have NFI how to capture and embed it and it doesn't seem to be on the Fox Footy website.

edit: The montage is shown near the start of the show (AFL 360).

That is fantastic.

I think the track before that M83 track is done by this music production company called Two Steps From Hell - they make soundtracks for movie trailers and stuff that have an 'epicness' feel to them. I'll have a dig.

Edit: found it.

Not sure on what's the track in the first 15s though.

Top comment on the BigPondAFL youtube post of that moment: "Thank god Cometti got that call and not BT...".

Yes.

No probs. I've been on the hunt for a track id from one of OneHD's sporting montages circa late-2010 and early 2011 which sounded like it was from Two Steps From Hell. No joy so far, but ES Posthumus is a new lead.

Some really interesting angles. I can see why they aren't used while broadcasting the game live because I'd imagine if they switched in real time it would be a bit spatially confusing for the viewer but I wouldn't mind seeing replays use these alternative POVs if the option is there.

It would be like a a cricket broadcast, when they forget to go back to the regular view for a delivery and no one knows what the fuck just happened.

Such an awkward kick by Malceski! Great goal though. And what was Young doing falling over in the goalsquare... jesus!

Hawks fans been giving it to poor Young. To be fair he did get a little push from Kizza to help him along.

Jesse White given the greenlight for a trade: http://www.smh.com.au/afl/afl-news/s...004-27271.html

People keep on talking up Tommy Walsh but of the games I've seen him play in the AFL he has had very minimal impact and he doesn't look to be all that big.

Walsh was useless when I saw him play.

Good news on Jesse White. I've always been a fan of him so it's a shame to see him sitting out. Hopefully he can be part of a deal to get Tippett to sydney.

Its a weird one. I thought he would want to stay. Always got the impression he liked being in Melbourne and from what other journos has to say.

Pick 17 I think is reasonably fair. Whether we get it or not remains to be seen. Eddie has come out swinging as per usual.

Swift was the most talented kid I've ever seen. Played against my brother's 18 year old squad as a 15 year old and tore them apart. Was reasonably amazing in his first year at AFL level too.

West Coast have stuffed up quite a few top 25 draft picks over the past five years (Notte, Swift, Ebert, Stevens, Weedon).
