I'm keen on giving this mixer a go, $1000AUD is priced pretty well I think.

From what I've read you can't customise the up faders curves?

$799 plus shipping pre orders from DJTT site. Which is crazy fucking cheap for what it is.

How much is shipping? How does warranty fair abroad? Dropping that much cash on something that can get wrecked fairly easily is pretty important to me.

If I buy it in Australia, I can claim it back on tax for work purposes though...

I bought an Kontrol S2 from them. I guess you would have to send it back fro warranty but they are good dudes to deal with in my experience.

I've heard some positive things from a couple of solid scratch DJs.

DJ Worx review is fairly glowing too.

I had the Z2 for a few days now and I have to say it's pretty cool! I don't regret buying it.

Theyre a surprisingly solid unit. A friend of mine has one which I tried out not too long ago. I'm not one hundred percent keen on the layout of the crossfader though, I accidentally kept pressing the flux/4 buttons when chopping with the fader... probably something you'd get used to.

Any new opinions on this? Looking at getting one to replace my Numark DXM09 which is starting to show its age a bit and allow for an easier transition to an all digital setup in the future.

Got one of these a few months back during a sale and will finally get to push it a bit tomorrow, particularly with the remix decks. It's been fairly solid the odd couple of times I've used it as a standalone mixer, feels more better built compared to my old DXM09.

How does this sound playing regular vinyl? I'm keen to ditch my sound card and go with an all in one but I'm a bit worried I will miss the analogue sound quality with my records and xone.

NI currently have a sale on at around $US599.00 for this month. Not sure what the AU dollar price is, but might be worth looking into for those who have been considering getting one. Also makes me wonder if the Z2 Mk2 or even the Z4 is on the horizon, given what usually happens when NI have a hardware sale on for a particular product.

Not sure about vinyl, but I have my CDJ400s running through it and it sounds reasonable, though in comparison to my previous DXM-09, the sound output seems slightly lower.

I've been curious about this.... The last time I used an S4 as a mixer to play vinyl the sound was freaking horrible, I don't know if that was just the S4 I was using or something to do with the controller as a whole... The Z2 would have to sound better right..??

Yeah I'm always a bit wary of digital mixers since I tend to spin more vinyl then digital, if I was playing 90% digital tunes I wouldn't care as much.

I read this review on Juno - http://www.junodownload.com/plus/201...ts-kontrol-z2/

Quote:

As with all Native Instruments hardware, the Kontrol Z2 works seamlessly with Traktor. However, if you are a lover of vinyl then the Z2 only really serves as a facility to incorporate vinyl into a digital set as the Z2’s sound is very top heavy and lacking in the warmth you need to get the most out of the vinyl format. Those using the mixer primarily for digital use however will find that this excess of high frequency is less present when playing digital files in Traktor mode.

So I am a bit reluctant to jump pull the trigger on the mixer. ATM I have a xone 22 and a Traktor Audio 10 but I've found it lowers the volume a few db compared to running it straight into the phono ins which is a bit annoying.
I'm thinking about jumping on the Serato bandwagon and grabbing a SL4 box, the signal is hotter and it has two usb ports if a mate wants to play back to back., a bit pricey though...

Just bumping this thread to see if any one can answer my question above. Are there any users on here that play regular vinyl through the mixer?
I'm close to pulling the trigger on one of these it will minimise all the annoying wires in my setup. The only digital mixer I've used that sounds good is a Xone db2 which sounds amazing and warm with regular vinyl.
