This blog post now makes a whole lotta sense

Roar players reveal Ange secret

October 11, 2012

Brisbane Roar players today lifted the lid on what was till now the best kept secret in the A-League, that Ange Postecoglu didn’t really coach them to back to back championships.

In an extraordinary press conference the team revealed that Ange spent his whole time at the Queensland club under hypnosis and that Rado Vidosic was really the brains behind the operation.

Captain Matt Smith explained “Rado didn’t want the limelight so the club employed Ange to act as stooge because he hadn’t worked for ages and was cheap”.

“Rado picked the team, took training, coached tactics and signed players – the whole thing. The club merely hypnotised Ange into thinking he was doing it all”

“It worked out great, the team kept winning and Rado got to stay out of the limelight. Then Ange started getting big money offers from Victory. The club decided to persuade Rado to take the job on properly and let Ange go to Melbourne so they wouldn’t have to match his contract”.

When asked about how Ange would do at Melbourne on his own Smith laughed.

“You remember when we went on that losing streak last season? The hypnotist was on holiday then and we had to let Ange coach the team for real for a bit. I think that tells you all you need to know”

We just looked so good. Poor Melbourne didn't get close to scoring at all.
2 offside goals disallowed and Halloran hitting the crossbar - things could have got uglier...

also, why/since when are there only 3 substitute players and a goalie available for substitution? seems to limit the coaches ability to change a game, doesn't it?

Allsopp fluffed 3 fairly decent chances.

Went along to the Sydney FC game last night and I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the game.

Sydney were off the pace in the first half, except for a five or ten minute period when Del Piero scored - but once they went 3 v 1 behind the effort level lifted.

I'm not sure if that's because Newcastle were trying to shut up shop and they invited Sydney back in, or if Sydney genuinely lifted their efforts (I suspect a combo) but whatever caused it Sydney actually looked like the players knew each other. Thinking about it - it was around the time McFlynn got taken off that they improved..... or did I get that wrong? If I did I blame the beer.

Sydney scored and you really got the feeling that they were a genuine chance to snatch a draw, but they couldn't manage it and in the end Newcastle ended up looking the stronger team in extra time.

I'm not sure if the majority of the Del Piero curiosity brigade will be back, but there was enough quality to suggest that crowds could well improve over previous seasons and that Sydney will start winning games sooner rather than later.

So turns out my mums BF has Brisbane Roar season tickets and is letting me have both of them for one game this season.

Who is upcoming on the Roar home schedule that is the definitive unquestioned team worth seeing play?

Wishing it was the 5-0 whopping they delivered on Saturday...

Yeh its going to be hard to beat the 5-0 whopping of the Hype. Ange couldnt even look Rado in the eye after the match when shaking hands. Talk about having egg on your face.

Should have been 7-0. Is this the beginning of the end for Ange? If reports are true that Rado has been calling the shots the whole time at Roarca when Ange was here he will prob be out of a job by xmas. Hype board still with the mentality thinking they can buy the title & being played by the Roarca baord. I like the sound of that

Next home game is against Western Sydney Oct 27 but we should win that no probs

Adelaide Nov 4 should be a good game as Adelaide seem to be in some decent form

We play Sydney Nov 16 at Suncorp so hopefully Del Piero isnt injured by then. Should pull a big crowd id he plays hopefully but with Sydneys woeful form it's beginning to look like a non-event already.

Only real next home game of interest after that is Perth Dec 21.

We dont play Central Coast at Suncorp til Feb 1

Even though Sydney lost it was a fun game. Great atmosphere, some very good goals (even thoguh I was in a bar queue for ADP's effort). Hopefully a large portion of the Eurosnobs come back out again.

Thank god for Victory, otherwise we'd be propping up the table. What time is it?

Muscat admitted after the grand final loss to Sydney FC last month that he would be haunted for some time for sending his spot kick into the post, a miss which helped Sydney claim the championship.

Still don't see this being the case. Rado was on board from day one, and they still served up piles of shit under Frank and Miron. he may have worked well in tandum with Ange, but surely his influence would have been a bit more prounounced in the previous five seasons?

Only got round to watching the replay yesterday.

Our defence is atrocious, but there were a few signs that we're starting to get it together in possession.

ADP is wonderful.

Why dont you go to Western Sydney & Adelaide as well? Adelaide should be the more competitive game.

The Sydney game will prob pull the biggest crowd due to the fact that Del Piero plays

Disappointed I will miss the game against the barrels this Friday, as I have a gut feeling it will be the first win of the season.

Lord only knows we need a result.
