so. i have a computer hacker question.

for some reason external usb drives arent loading up on my laptop anymore when using windows 7. they show up fine in osx (it just works). but when i plug them into windows they power up but they dont show up in the explorer. when i open up disk management, they are there, but showing up as 'Disk 2' not as external drives. sometimes. so i right click it and try and assign it a drive letter. but it freaks out. and everything starts to chug until i unplug the harddrive. same thing when i go into 'cmd' and 'diskpart'. it just sits there frozen until i unplug. i've also tried mountvol /n then mountvol /e. restarting. zapping the pram. etc etc. but the hds still dont load.

how do i hack it so that they do?

They haven't been formatted using HSF+ under OS X by any chance have they?

nope. windows nt.

its really weird. i was in windows 7. had the drive plugged in. copied a file across. unplugged it. then plugged it back in. and now harddrives wont show up. they still show up in osx though. so i know the hard drives arent borked or the usb hole magnet thing broken. and usb devices still work in windows 7. its just external hard drives wont show up.
