If you're flying Tiger to get to an interstate Collingwood game, it's pretty much a certainty that the flight will be cancelled. You wouldn't get any compensation either.

OK, Tiger Airways are under new management and haven't had an incident like that since the change in management.

I've got a free meal from Jetstar after my flight was delayed until the next morning. The flight was too early in the morning for people to go to a hotel to sleep, whether individual passengers were paying for it or the airline was.

Travel insurance is more likely to pay for accommodation and incidental expenses. Ticket sellers like Moshtix offer ticket insurance.

Walk up in the question thread like 'waddup I gotta perplexing question'

So is there any sort of 'code of conduct' when buying milk in regards to used by dates?

Eg is a person obliged to take the first bottle in the row or is it OK to dodge a bottle and go for the one behind it with 2 more days shelf life?

On the one hand I'm the sort of hippy who would shed a single tear for all the neglected bottles that get wasted

On the other hand, if there's a bottle with a few more days of freshness, I gots to have it (and just hope the next person isn't a douche like me)

sames, I normally sniff around for the better use by date, I also refuse to buy defective fruit/vegies. I wonder if the ****s are still adding permeates?
Police kicked down the back door and cornered the man in the bathtub.
"What?" he is alleged to have told police. "I'm having a bath."
However, police will allege the suspect was still wearing shorts.

I worship at the church of Aldi- whilst big on variety they are not, the quality is mostly fine by me and the price is definately right. Like Bracko mentioned a farmers market sounds pretty worthy too

I buy all my veggies from a green grocer and they last more than twice as long as supermarket shite.

I signed up with aussie farmers direct for the times I can't make it to the shops at least I can order my fruit and veg from them and get it delivered, the stuff they have is pretty good.

Chinese veg markets. Stopped buying veges at chain supermarkets about 5 years ago. Buy your overpriced packaged crap where you need to, and then take a handful of gold coins and come back from the market with a wheelbarrow full of fresh veg.

Farmers markets or the real fruit and veg markets in your city.

If you plan your weeks a bit you don't need to go to coles at all for fresh food and you're helping break the market share down.

My question. RM Williams boots... To purchase or not to purchase? My old boots bought for work at $160 have fallen apart after 2 years and the leather is looking like it's about to start cracking despite polishing every 3-6 months.

350 odd bones is a lot to spend on shoes but if they last 20 years it's a pretty easy decision.

Problem with RMs is you still have to get them re-soled every year or so- and that still costs $100+.
So there's not really any great long-term saving in them.
If you want some work shoes that will last forever look at the dress range from one of the work boot manufacturers like Rossi. Under $100 a pair and will last years. I wear their steel caps at work and they're super comfy, if I got an office job I'd probably get these:

Are you sure it's free? I went into the RM store to check them out one time and they told me you had to pay for he re-soling each time- that's what put me off them.

I love my RMs, who would have thought they would be so comfortable!?
Seem like very good quality so far. I've had them for a bit over a year now and they've definitely held up better than most other leather shoes I've had. $400-500 does seem like a lot but if you get 4-5 years out of them, it's good value.

20 years Bracko? Haha good luck. No one makes quality items of clothing like that anymore, it's not the 80s.

Nope, haven't had to change mine yet. I'd be surprised if they did it for free actually, soles aren't cheap.

And it's all terrible quality.

I don't know why people in here claim that supermarket stuff isn't good quality. It's always top notch for me. What supermarkets do you go to? And it is never usually that much more pricey. Makes it easier when I just do all my shopping in one place.

depends on what

some stuff [tomatoes] the big chains reckon they can get away with cold storing it for ages, and it doesnt last at all once it hits the shelves

speaking of wasting food a lot of stuff doesn't even make the shelves because it's misshapen or whatever IE carrots that look like obscure sex objects etc.

that pisses me off

They're pretty durable though I'd rate Rossi over Blundstone these days, still made in Australia and slightly better quality. But either will last you years.

Sorry I thought you meant everyday dress shoes for work- the work boot manufacturers are actually a pretty good option for those as they make some dress boots that are comfortable and way more hard wearing than most fashion shoe brands. Probably a bit plain for going out shoes though.
If they're just for going out in take a look on ASOS or somewhere like that- I got a really nice pair of brogue boots for $100, wouldntt wear them every day but they should last a few years purely as going out shoes.

My work supplies us with Cofra brand electrician boots (composite toe and insulated sole) and they are damn comfy. In fact I've been here over a year, time for another pair.

So the Mrs is going to Europe/UK in a month or so. Last time she was there was for gap year in 2007. When she came home from the UK she left a bank account overdrawn by about 150 quid.
She is freaking out that when she tries to enter the UK again she will get pulled up for this.
What are the chances of this happening? Is it even a possibility?
