Laurent Garnier a Flop
I was just wondering if anybody knows how Laurent Garnier ticket sales are going, because i get the impression they're not doing to well. 2SER would have given away at least thirty this week, that's how i got mine.

RE: Laurent Garnier a Flop
and after seeing him in Melbourne last week, there is NO WAY the price justifies his performance.
Overrated, overpriced,overhyped, over-my-head dj set.....
over & out,
respect pedro...

RE: Laurent Garnier a Flop
quality not quantity. i would much prefer a smaller crowd really getting into it than heaps of people who just want to say "i got really smashed at laurent garnier"

RE: Laurent Garnier a Flop
over-my-head dj set?

geez just coz it was a Hardware party doesn't mean that hey to play banging techno all the time - good on them for putting on something different and tried to diversify and broaden Melbourne's exposure to electronic music. Too bad if it went over the heads of much of the crowd. Hardware were extremely pleased with how the party went including both Garnier and Lekebush's sets which were different in nature but not one better than the other overall. Different things for different people.

It's a pity the price is as so for Sydney, I'm tempted to see him again in Melbourne tonight which is only $28.

Yeah Laurent was quite special, pity about the price here...

again I have to reiterate Kitsu's query:

"over my head dj set" - what exactly is that supposed to mean?

He was amazing.

Laurent Garnier NOT a Flop
Garnier on Saturday a flop. No fucking way!

This would have to be the best live/dj act I've seen all year.

The music was spot on, he started early, he went for an hour longer than expected, there was a lot of people there (that's not to say it was a preferable crowd though) and the sound system wasn't too bad.

I wouldn't describe the venue as crap at all, just because a venue in the past has had crappy nights on and a dress code, doesn't mean that will get implemented when another promoter comes in, which it didn't.

Garnier really to the crowd on a journey, starting things with some nice lush, funky house, then started his own music. Tracks such as Acid Eiffel, Man with the Red Face, Dangerous Driver, Crispy Bacon just to name a few. He mixed seamlessly in and out of his live music and the records he was playing, sampling parts of the tracks and playing the samples in to the tracks he was playing live, he even sampled this saxophonist and fucked around with those sounds.

Sounds moved around from deep and funky, to harder, darker, acidic territory and back again.

If you didn't go, you missed out on something really special. This man knows how to DJ (he's been doing it for over ten years now) and take people on a journey, instead of cranking out similiar beats over a two hour streatch (played for about four hours). This really is the mark of a really good DJ IMO.

out,
DPBah.
