THERAPY :: Claire Morgan + Brock Ferrar ::
Friday 31st July :: There is no place like home to rock a party, so when the time came to take a brief respite from making their mark on the world, it went without saying that former Queensland cats Brock Ferrar and Claire Morgan should drop on Therapy and let us hear all about their adventures. CLAIRE MORGAN :: [ Lost Baggage / Spice / Loose Kaboose / SYDNEY ] :: Establishing herself in Brisbane in 2001, Claire Morgan came to prominence locally with an inspired and individual sound, backed with extreme attention to detail at the controls. Circling the city’s nocturnal spots with a slick and driving house bag, Claire took on the dancefloors of Press Club, Empire, Monastery and Family, in between adding the spice to the early incarnations of No 12 and GPO. Her infamous JJJ Mixup brought her to national attention, and Claire soon found herself looking for a much larger hill to climb, finally making the shift south to the slightly larger smoke of Sydney. Claire set about work on her Masters degree at the Australian Film, Television and Radio School, exploring the emotional and psychological depths of film scoring and composition; all the while, sneaking out at night to bring vinyl only bags of slamming deep techno and house to Sydney’s key gatherings Lost Baggage, Spice, Loose Kaboose, Deep as Fu*k, Chemistry, Shrug, and The Box, and hitting the open air events when the warmer weather arrives. Both in the setup for the array of international house and techno elite rolling through the city or controlling the room from the peak, Claire brings a distinct and classy thump to the club, drifting through bumpy Chicago house, Detroit techno and evocative deep tech, taking the floor on a wild and twisted ride. BROCK FERRAR :: [ Groove / Pinksilver / MELBOURNE ] :: Initially making his beginnings on the Gold Coast, Brock Ferrar set about changing the state of play in the city, simultaneously dropping developed displays of jacking underground house and techno, whilst working to introduce the scene to the likes of Radioslave, DJ T, Steve Bug and MANDY. Based out of the Paradise city’s Elsewhere institution, Brock represented an outpost for underground club music in the southern part of the state, remaining dedicated to pushing proper club recreation through gritty and real dancefloor sounds. Before long, Brock found himself seeking out further development in the renowned club scenes of Japan and Germany, involving himself fully in each instance through high input of worldly musical influences, and regarded output of solid performance at the controls of Club Tangente in Heidelberg, Germany, Rockets in Osaka, and Unit in Tokyo, Japan, as well as a key display there at revered club Spacelab/Yellow. Once back in the country, Brock shifted his operation to the southern tip, developing his Groove parties in Melbourne, continuing his commitment to focusing attention on high end club movers such as Sammy Dee, Tom Clark and Mike Shannon, and building opportunities for production output with local imprints Pinksilver and Snubb Recordings. As always, Brock continues to front in between the booth monitors at Darkbeat, Killing Time, Nano, Liquid, and Almost Human, and keeps the east coast covered at Deep as Fu*K Sydney and returning to Queensland previously to visit Motion Theory on the Gold Coast, and Colours in Brisbane. Evidently, Brock is a dedicated musical tourist, and is taking full advantage of the opportunity to stopover in Brisbane whilst taking you on a trip through funky jacking underground house and techno. In addition to his incessant worldwide search for dancefloor cuts, and keeping things tight from the control room, Brock brings a deep and personal sense of purpose affecting the club into the late hours. Special note :: Qantas have revealed that they are in fact the terrorists, and Claire has been maxed a massive $400 tax on her wax. So this is indeed premium gear that we are going to float to. We recommend reserving your real estate on the floor early to ensure ample space to get down. Guiding our returning hometown heroes tonight are local flight controllers YokoO, Nat Monaghan, Dan Abbott, Adam Swain and Adrian Matyear, setting up a high altitude jet stream of deep and wobbly techno and underground house this Friday 31st July. SET TIMES :: 5 - 8pm Dan Abbott + Adam Swain 8 - 930pm YokoO 930 - 1030pm Nat Monaghan 1030 - 1230am CLAIRE MORGAN 1230 - 2am BROCK FERRAR 2am - 5am Adrian Matyear BAR :: Steve, Lou, Hammy and Nick have got some wicked tricks up their sleeve in their most recent cocktail list, though old favourites have been making an appearance in the DJ booth. Custom-made absinthe (synthe? synth…) jobs, niche rums and for a tasty and full on way to start the evening sideways, ask for a “Zombie.” Rated by the Samsara boys and the Therapy crew to “make mixing difficult” and dancing a whole lot of fun. DINNER :: The kitchen is slinging hot, fresh and reasonably priced feasts at ya from 5pm until late - usually about 10 – 10.30pm. Jodie and Jonny get their aprons on and, you know, the hudu trance takes over. Light and tasty, and perfect for an energy boost early in the evening if you are planning on a late night boogie. BOOKINGS :: Do you have a whole heap of slightly unbalanced friends? Think you might need a group session? Make an appointment early. Book space in the club, arrange bar accounts and entry with Jodie, on 3252 9550. Be quick though, there's a whole lot of you nutbags out there... House music, for heads and feet.. 5pm - 5am, No Cover Friday 31st July BARSOMA 22 Constance St :: Fortitude Valley :: 4006 :: Ph 3252 9550 http://www.barsoma.com http://www.myspace.com/therapybrisbane http://www.myspace.com/barsoma

Hey thanks for having me, was a fitting end to a wicked hometown trip. Bar Soma is a hot little venue, easily my favourite in Bris. Bartender with the dreads has some serious skills, wobbled outta there with a fat grin on my face. The guy really knows how to mix a whisky sour mmmmm....
