Help me KICK this problem LOOOL

I have a problem getting this styled kick

www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q1XtsES2ziU

All my attempts are either too clicky, or too flabby in the lows. I'm talking about getting this with a 909 emulator, not just a sample. Any hints or suggestions?

Have you done a spectrum analysis on it? I haven't really done much kick synthesis but you would be able to pick the main frequency out and go from there. Even have a look at the wave would help to see where it rolls off.

It sounds like the kick itself is fairly simple and hasn't got much high end but there is always a snare or that percussive wood block thing to fill up that end of the spectrum and give it the click.

that's a pretty standard sounding kick, should be able to achieve it if you pick your sample right with a bit of EQ.

The kick is really masked by the other elements of the track so i think once you've built up your track you you might find it easier to create the sound you're looking for, you could try looping the bit of the track @ 1:40 and playing with a few kick samples to see what works and then try those kicks in you tracks

^^What Bill said. Bare in mind the envelope of it too. Its quite bouncy yeah, doesn't sound like it has much tail (short release), but then again utube aint great quality sound.
