You never come and visit... it's like we only get to see you once a year!!
To rectify this we're laying on a launch party for 2010 you REALLY don't want to miss as we take over the whole of Mercat Cross for our annual indoor one night mini Rainbow reunion.

Atmos (Spiral Trax, Sweden)
Atmos had released 3 albums, loads of singles and has countless appearances on compilations but more important - his music has been embraced, played and loved by such a broad spectra of people all over the world. Tomasz has also been touring all parts of the globe, to every possible kind of event, for well over 12 years now and with great success. His sense for merging rhythm programming with delicate strings into a well-produced groovy sound is guaranteed to make everyone get down to the dance floor and that has made him an instalment to count on in events all over the place.

Antix – Hayden DJ Set (Iboga, NZ)
Somewhere back in the late 90’s brothers Barton and Hayden Strom fresh faced and a love for electronic music formed the soon to be world famous outside New Zealand – ANTIX. Iboga Records in Denmark got whiff of the new sound and promptly signed the two brothers. These days the boys barely need an introduction, having played at countless festivals and events across the globe Antix remain one of the hottest acts there is.

Sun Control Species (Iboga, Australia)
Sun Control Species has become a standard amongst the Australian festival scene since the turn of the millenium. He has headlined Rainbow Serpent 5 years running and had his music aired to over 1 million people in Scandinavia alone. SCS is an all-rounder who's deep emotional and uplifting music has been inspiring people on and off dance floors for years. It wouldn’t be a Rainbow event without him.

Gavin Martin (Open Records)
Gavin is one of the most respected djs in Australia having been an integral part of the scene for the last 10 years. Gavin’s music style is a blend of deep evolving progressive, techno & house sounds mixed with an earthy edge, intelligent atmospherics, & an ear for forward thinking Sonics.

Tim Harvey (Rainbow)
Melbourne producer and DJ, Tim has been actively involved in the Australian scene since 1996 and is a regular at Australia’s most well-respected electronic music festivals. His fusion of funky progressive basslines fused with elastic, electro cuts and a good dose of grinding techno is sure to get you moving and smiling.

Punkzonjunk (Rainbow)
Many moons ago Punkzonjunk were born from the fire of ancient raves. Honing their deck wizardry on the turntables of time, they are Bobby Raver and D-Boy! Both punkz and both on junk. Their energy on stage is something to behold. Punkz are committed to the party, the dancefloor and everyone on it.

2008 was a massive year for the Punkz, gigs included: Earthcore, Rainbow Serpent, Royal Doof, Somatica and St Kilda Festival. Supporting the likes of D-NOX and Beckers, Infusion, Green Nuns of the Revolution, Robert Leiner, Dave the Drummer and Juno Reactor - the duo is definitely proving to be a success on the dancefloor!

Simon Slieker (Monotremes)
Possessed with a balance of skill and sensitivity, Slieker draws upon the subtleties which can turn a set into a cohesive aural journey. Not only does he recognize such amorphous qualities as depth, scope, timing and intensity, he manipulates them as surely and deliberately as a shift in the pitch.

Dave Pham (Stable)
Dave Pham began chasing his musical aspirations by collecting vinyl in the early nineties. Since 2000, Dave has been experimenting with crossing Techno with other genres of music such as Electro and Experimental sounds and is now received by audiences, other DJ’s and promoters as being one of the most versatile around.

Jonny Mac (BUS)
Jonny Mac has been a fixture in Melbourne's outdoor and club scene for the last 6 years. Always having an obsession with music the transformation from punter to DJ was a natural one. Over the years Jonny has experimented with styles spanning the spectrum of dance music, from breakbeat to trance to electro to progressive to techno. After spending countless hours studying his craft Jonny has become one of Melbourne most versatile DJs, always executing a set that suits the surroundings. Jonny has played alongside the worlds top producers and DJs at many of Victoria's clubs, outdoor partys and festivals.

Cecille
DJ Cecille has traversed the musical landscape since 1998, beginning in her home-town of Adelaide. Having fallen in love with the dark jungle and rave music of this era, watching Ultrasonic at her first rave was enough to cement her curiosity into sound, DJing and all technical aspects in between.

Moving to Melbourne introduced her keen ears to the sounds of dark techno – early influences included Surgeon, Jeff Mills, DJ Rush and Dave Clarke to name a few.

From techno to electro and house, her hybrid blend of sounds continues to delight dance-floors across Melbourne and beyond. From Revolver to Sunny, Pyramid Rock Festival to F4, with her mixture of fun, joy and seriously tough beats, Cecille knows how to get the party rocking!

Schofield
Schofield, aka Ross Veenstra, hails from north of the river, Melbourne, Victoria. Having always been a fan of recorded music, it was only a matter of time before he decided to jump behind the decks and start to juxtapose some of his favourite tracks for his own aural pleasure. Things have moved on over the years and currently the Schofield signature platter features an assortment of ambient, dub, downtempo electronica, and worldly-beats, ranging from head-nodding late-afternoon hammock beats to more atmospheric movements exploring nocturnal realms. Schofield has been seen and heard playing at select events around town, and has also played at past Rainbow Serpent Festivals in 2006, 2007, 2008 and 09.

J-Dub
Melbourne based Dj J - Dub has been exploring electronic music for the past 10 years, since first appearing at Ostara Festival 2008 he has been a well established Dj at festivals and events in and around Melbourne. His dj sets are an eclectic mix of electronic sounds from styles such as dubstep, breaks, IDM, glitch, hiphop, downtempo, midtempo and ambient sounds. Over the past year J - Dub has appeared at events such as Ostara Festival, Sunday Sessions, Tribeadelic Gathering, Rainbow Serpent Festival and Maitreya Festival.

Kali just added to the chill.

Kali (Rainbow/Polynate)
Kali has had a deep love for music for as long as she can remember. Playing her first Rainbow Serpent Festival in 2004 kick started her lust to share her eclectic collection of ambient grooves and funky electronic beats, with the focus on exposing local up and coming artists as well as paying homage to her old favourites.

Human Powered Cycles

Thanks to Human Powered Cycles in Preston we are very excited to be giving away 1 x Male and 1 x Female, Urban Soul bikes at the Rainbow Launch Party.

With the trend towards single speed and fixed gear bikes the Urban Soul is the most simple bike for getting around town. One speed, so no gears to fiddle with or maintain. A simple steel frame and fork are tough and comfy to ride. Fit racks and/or mudguards, and this is the ultimate budget commuting bike.

The rear hub is a flip flop style, which means you can also convert this bike to a fixed gear set up, enabling even greater simplicity.

The guys down at Human Powered Cycles are strong followers of the repair and recycle philosophy so Rainbow are very grateful and pleased to have them as partners for Rainbow 2010.

To check out Human Powered Cycles website follow this link: http://www.humanpowered.com.au/wp/ or go visit them at 562 High Street Thornbury, Melbourne.

Things have moved on over the years and currently the Schofield signature platter features an assortment of ambient, dub, downtempo electronica, and worldly-beats, ranging from head-nodding late-afternoon hammock beats to more atmospheric movements exploring nocturnal realms.
