STEVE AOKI - Exclusive Sydney show
![]() Lock up your daughters Sydney!! Oct 24th, hipster hero, globetrotting superstar DJ, label owner, fashion designer and all round LA party muse Steve Aoki is bringing his riotous DIM MAK party to rock the Metro Theatre all night, for one night only with support from surprise international guests and a tonne of the best locals tba… The man behind Dim Mak Records; who broke artists like Bloc Party, The Kills, Klaxons, MSTRKRFT, The Bloody Beetroots, Mystery Jets, The Rakes, The Gossip and more, is also the same man behind the production moniker Weird Science that has remixed Peaches, Snoop Dogg & Bloc Party. Under his own name, Aoki has remixed The Killers, Robin Thicke, Lenny Kravitz, Duran Duran and Timbaland, S.P.A., All American Rejects and Chris Cornell… add to that his orginal productions in collaboration with artists from Boys Noize, The Faint, D.i.M., The Bloody Beetroots, & Junkie Xl, to Armand Van Helden, laidback Luke & more and it becomes clear that Steve Aoki is a pretty huge force in modern electronic music. On the fashion side, Aoki has developed lines for KR3W Apparel, Supra Footwear, headphones for WESC, sunglasses with KSUBI, headwear with NEFF, bags with Burton, and in 09 a brand new mens/women’s range with his supermodel sister Devon Aoki. In between all this, and touring all over the world as in demand DJ in his own right, the man is getting into mischief with his cohort Cobrasnake and living it up in LA throwing weekly parties that are notoriously off-the-wall, so you know he’s going to bring it for the Metro theatre!! Ready? 1-2 WARP WARP!!! DIM MAK RECORDS NIGHT FEAT STEVE AOKI\\ SPECIAL INTERNATIONAL GUESTS & LOCAL SUPPORTS TBA The Metro Theatre, 624 George St Sydney TICKETS : Early Birds tix are already sold out , 1st release on sale now http://www.metrotheatre.com.au/ticke...php?gigid=1644 LINKS : http://www.myspace.com/showupshowdown http://www.musicpeople.com.au _____________________________ |

Yeah this is going to be hit or miss.
Im either going to leave all sorts of fucked up happy with what ive heard, or all sorts of fucked up with my ears bleeding. Might wait for more of the lineup and hopefully get a ticket later. |

Even though alot of Dim Mak's newer stuff totally blows...I can't believe they release 'Silent Alarm' and alot of Bloc Party's early releases. Also stuff from The Rakes and The Kills.
Respect....But there is no way in hell I would see Aoki DJ. |

Yeh i thought he was good at fieldayze last year , he was one of the more entertaining artists like jumping off shit and going crazy.
Think people could debate whether he brings the good skillswise but when it comes to entertainment he is fun.

SFD set was ... fun ... but no exactly musically good - i'll cheer on anyone who throws vodka at me. Not sure that I could listen to a whole night of him, esp with october/november overflowing with amazing events as it is.

That's how I felt. Him spending less than half his time behind the decks (most of it dancing in the middle of stage with those girls, often screaming "motherfucker" in to the mic), was an amusing start to my only SFD experience. Wouldn't rush back to a club gig though. |

I kinda of think of him like I think of cobra snake, not talented, just famous for being famous. I dont think being famous for no reason justifies $45 or a gig at the metro,
though, it probably would be large, and pretty fun. |

I heard off a friend off a friend, that they paid $45,000 for Steve Aoki's sydney show +GST + Expenses relating to the Metro etc
So if its 45 per you would need over 1000 people to break even. I hope im wrong - $45,000 is an exorbitant amount! |

i got drunk with Steve Aoki at an oyster party at OAF once,
pretty cool dude, i wouldn't be so quick to bag him out. but i wouldn't pay 45 dollars to see him at the Metro, he is a club dj, having him at the metro makes it too much of a show and not enough of a party. |

# Sydney took down the crown 4 the aussie tour! Thank u metro. U r Top 5 favorite clubs ever. And the crowd was on fire, literally. Thank u!9:33 AM Oct 24th from UberTwitter
As much as there was a heap of negatives about the show, the crowd were up for it and the Metro was packeeeeeeeeeeeeeed like a motherfucker. I did have fun but i don't mind cheese.
