So I met this girl .....
Evening. Never thought I'd be brave enough to join and write one of these advice things but here I am.
The thing is I met this great girl today. Well actually technically we met how should I put this "online" but we met in actualality today in Manly. Yes it was heaps windy which was a shame but you can't choose the weather as the saying goes. The point of all this is that I think we got on well (3, 2.5 drinks) and SHE wants me to take her out to dinner this week! WHAT KIND OF PLACES DO YOU TAKE A GOOD CLASSY GIRL OUT TO DINNER TO??? Also I'm really shy and not very popular (I used to be) and even though we met "on the internet" she seems to be. Does this ever work or do you have to change, step by step? Also she is about to go overseas for two weeks (that's why she invited me to take her out ASAP - well I'm guessing). I stuffed up something around Xmas by not seeing someone for weeks after we just met. SO I'M WONDERING DO I HAVE TO MAKE A BIG IMPRESSION LIKE A GOODBYE KISS TO HAVE ANY HOPE? I know this might sound like a strange first post but I've read this web site at least once a week for about a year and this is legit. Thanks! |

You know how when someone says something is legit is makes it sound like it isn't in any way legit?
Maybe you should be banned from posting in lifestyle until you have at least 50 posts.

If your idea of a big first impression is a goodbye kiss, then no there isn't any hope.

According to the latest advertisments you are to take her to get a Grand Angus burger, if you feel like really splashing out get the combo meal. Also make sure you have her provide you with a current std free certificate or urine sample as most women are infected with one thing or another.
Good luck. |

Is it just me or if a girl suggests a guy 'takes her out for dinner' instead of the two of them just 'going for dinner', then it's obvious that she won't be paying a cent for anything purchased during whatever relationship that develops and will dump the guy as soon as she's bled him dry?

hmmmm, you met in manly. i can guess you are probably locals, which leads to me to think your idea of a good night out might be:
drinks at charlie bar, then dinner at ribs and rumps, then more drinks at that shithole the steyne. you can then cross the corso to the new brighton where you will both narrowly avoid getting glassed by 5 kiwis. you then make your way to the ivanhoe, for their crappy nightclub downstairs where the cheesy dj shits you no end so you head down to the wharf bar, manly's venue for the "coolest" ( read douchebags ) the north shore can produce. getting hungry again you risk a kebab with her at 2am where you then proceed to fight with 1000 people for 5 cabs in an attempt to get her back to your place to show her your star wars sheet set on your bed. my advice? avoid the wasteland that is manly nite life. take her into the city etc where they have decent venues and restaurants. or try the jazz festival this weekend during the day. good luck son, may the force be with you |

Just take her to a nice restaruant and man up! Don't go somewhere too flash though, it puts too much pressure on everyone, especially if you or her is not used to uber flash places, it can make things stiffled and awkward.
If things go well and you get a goodbye snog/shag, when you part, give her and envelope which has some nice, but not tacky, card in it and a $40 calling card so she can call you from overseas if she feels so enclined.

JESUS FUCKING CHRIST, you just explained so many of my nights out in manly to a tea! it was even better when they attempted to have proper nights when aqualounge was still open....fuck...oh wait is ceruti's still open? i remember the owner being shut down cos he was letting underage girls in and serving them booze, lol ahhh good old beachtowns. I ditched my friends and went into town for the real clubs and to break out of the high school group of bitching and fakeness in friends...the only thing i missed about going out in manly was being a 10minute drunk stumble walk along the beachfront home!

The fact that you're basing how well you go on by how many drinks you had doesn't sound promising to me.

Thanks for the heartfelt replies although some were just a bit mean (I was expecting that having read this site for about a year).
Just to clarify a few things I had the 2.5 drinks because I was driving. So sucks to be you hey. No I didn't stalk her beforehand but it's funny I looked her up on facebook last night and I know one her friends a little bit how whack jam is that. Come to think about it she refused to give me her email that was a little strange. Guys it's not like she said you pay for dinner and stuff like that it was a lot cooler and I don't date girls who don't pay their fair share and trust me I've been on so many dates that I met through "online dating" it's not funny so I think I would know. I'll probably be derided for this too but I've wanted to ask this for so long when a girl goes to the bathroom and puts on lipstick AFTER ABOUT 90 MINUTES OF THE DATE what does that mean? Do all girls do that anyway if they are out with lady friends? Or are they sending a signal? Or scarier still does like mean they expect some tongue action giggles? Thanks again Stanley |

its a signal.. pay attention here ok, it means: Shit, my lipstick has worn off, i better put it back on.

my ex was a money grabbing whore who used me for dinners, trips around europe, presents etc etc.....this girl sounds like that.
you have to nip that in the bud straight away or you'll pay for it literally and figuratively for years to come. or wake up a lot sooner than i did ok? therefore don't do what i did for a first date, by taking her to bistro moncur in woollhara. sets the standard too high. |
