Have you ever met a shy itmer?
I'm curious, do any itmers here consider themselves to be shy?
i've met loads of itmers over time. i'd say at least 100 (quiet sad now i think of it). and i dont think out of the entire bunch i have met any who came off as shy. every single one of you have been quiet easy to talk to in real life. we're all more outspoken than each other, its a recipe for disaster really. so yes, anybody ever met a shy itmer? |

So I shall regale you with another story, it's a story detailing how I met my first bunch of ITMers en masse, having only previously met the now-permabanned MsMoneyPenny, and the elusive Trashy.
Three and a half years ago I read about an event that was on in Melbourne called the ITM Beach Party. It was free, it was BYO, and it had good tunes. The only thing preventing me from going was not knowing anybody, and after my friend bailed on me, it was just me going on a fine Summer day. I chucked on a t-shirt and shorts and wandered down from where I was living at the time. I followed the noise, there was a dull thrumming that was growing louder, and sure enough I was met with what looked like quite a party. I accosted the first person I saw, a bald-headed 30 y.o. who I would later know as Azzir, and a dear friend. But he had other ideas during my first meeting, I spoke up: "Hi is this the ITM Beach Party?" He looked at me quizzically, "ITM?" My heart sank. "You know: Inthemix?" "In. The. Mix?" "Oh, don't worry mate..." "Nah mate I'm just fucking with ya! Hey ****s come meet the newbie! What's your name?" "Marshy." The rest is history. I met a veritable treasure-trove of Melbourne ITMers including Becy, Ralph Wiggum, Spicy, and Scootie. All were very welcoming. So yes, I was shy on my first encounter... but once you get to know these ****s it's pretty damn awesome. I've made some friends for life. And seen trAse's soapy penis.

I tend to think of myself as pretty shy. More to the point, I don't wanna say "hai, I know you from the internets" - which is problematic when you've seen someone's photo fifty times over. i haven't met too many new itmers recently, but back in the day i met heaps and there were definitely some shy ones...maybe not shy, but very quiet.
once you get to know everyone though i think they come out of their shell. i'm pretty quiet unless i know you, i am also past the days of approaching people i recognise from going out/itm and introducing myself...too shy!
