PIRATES OF THE UNDERGROUND III featuring MATIAS AGUAYO (Kompakt) this December

Pirates of the Underground III
Kompakt Boat Cruise
1:30pm-10pm

One of the most anticipated events on our calendar, the annual Deep As Funk Pirate Cruise, returns on Saturday 19 December with a headline double bill featuring Kompakt heavyweight Matias Aguayo and French up-and-comer Solead.

Prepare for an afternoon of psychedelic techno mayhem on the high seas, where your (compulsory) pirate costume is only the first step as we forget reality and descend deep into davey jones' locker...

Expect a crowd as mixed as the music, where pirate wenches bump and grind with giant parrots as we enjoy music from some of the most forward thinking figures in the international dance scene, with support from a selection of our favourite locals.

Capacity is extremely limited and this is traditionally a sell-out, so get in fast. And keep in mind, this is not a party for the feint-hearted...

If you still need to be convinced, check out the below link to last year's event.

http://www.inthemix.com.au/events/reviews/41014/Pirates_of_the_Underground_II_Sydney_Harbour_20120 8

Matias Aguayo
Matias Aguayo is one of the true individuals in the dance world, with his DJ sets as unpredictable as his productions themselves, often featuring strong elements of improvisation and beat-boxing. After releasing his first record as Zimt with Kompakt kingpin Michael Mayer, Aguayo started up his Closer Musik partnership with Dirk Leyers and has since released a string of noteworthy productions, including his Are You Really Lost? EP and the reluctant club anthem, 'Minimal', which was memorably reworked by DJ Koze in one of the tracks of last year. With the imminent release of his debut full-length artist album, Ay Ay Ay, Aguayo has announced himself as a rare talent and one of the true innovators in today's (often predictable) club scene.

Solead
...are respected for the great diversity of their music from Techno & House to downtempo music. They have already caught the attention of respected artist in a wide range of style : such as Vitalic and his label Citizen, John Digweed (Giddy Down rmx on Transitions 3 compilation), Jamie Stevens from Infusion, Damian Lazarus, Minilogue, Monoroom, Bloody Mary, Kasey Taylor, Boris Brejcha (who did a remix)...and labels such as Metroline Limited, Vapour, Renaissance, Beef, Chillosophy Music, Subsonic, and of course Tree Hand Music, their own label. With many upcoming releases and major festival gigs at events such as the Roskilde Festival in Denmark, they have performed live sets all around the globe, in Europe, South Africa, North and South America, Asia & Australia- they are no doubt one of the names to watch in 2008 and beyond.

I'm pretty sure it will all be house, minimal & techno oriented (i.e. no trance)

Afterparty Information

Following on directly from the Pirates of the Underground Boat Cruise the psychedelic mayhem continues with a BYO warehouse bash, where Kompakt’s Jörg Burger, aka The Modernist, will perform an exclusive live set – his only Sydney performance.

Chilean tech iconoclast Matias Aguayo will be playing an encore set following his extended performance on the boat, and you can expect a strong local support cast as well.

Tickets are $25 on the door, though if you’re coming from the boat party you can get in for $10 - extra incentive for you to do the double and indulge in a day of exotic techno flavours.

Last year buses were organised straight from the boat to the afterparty.
There's talk something similar will be organised this year so all the "boaties" are given a clear passage to the warehouse!

$25? ouch!

Anyway, i'll be along. It's right next door, would be rude not to.

Might be in a bit of a state - which is exactly the way one should be at 21 May.

After last year's shenanigans on that rockin' boat, I'm pretty upset that I can't make it this year, but I'll be doing my best to rock up for the after party !!

Prospective pirates!

Let this be a quick warning - or rather a tip-off - to ye all:

ONLY A FEW TICKETS REMAIN FOR THIS SATURDAY’S PIRATES OF THE UNDERGROUND III BOAT PARTY.

We advise you to grab your tickets now lest you be marooned on shore and miss the mayhem. This party sells out every year, and we don’t like to oversell the boat for the comfort of all on board, so once tickets are gone they are well and truly g-o-n-e!

http://www.facebook.com/l/7f806;www....nt.aspx?125014

As for the afterparty, there will be a bus transporting people from Rose Bay Wharf to May St @ 10pm when we dock at cost of $5 a head. Jorg Burger has been struck down by ‘the black spot’ and will not be playing, but we have secured fellow Kompakt luminary Shumi – also from Cologne – to play on both the boat and at the afterparty too.

See you at Rose Bay Wharf @ 1:30pm / 2:00pm pickup Campbell's Cove (Circular Quay near Doyles restaurant & Hyatt hotel) sharp decked out in pirate-esque splendor for a day – and night – of no-holes barred decadence with a lineup to match.

TOP DECK

2:00 PM Robbie Lowe & Tim Culbert
3:30 PM Franchi Bros
4:30 PM SHUMI
6:00 PM Simon Caldwell
7:00 PM Diatribe
8:00 PM T-Quest
9:00 PM RifRaf
10PM CLOSE

DAVEY JONES' LOCKER

2:00 PM Dylan Griffin
3:30 PM Luke Le Mans
4:30 PM Marcotix
5:30 PM Matt Aubusson
6:30PM MATIAS AGUAYO (KOMPAKT)
8:30PM SOLEAD (FRANCE)
10PM CLOSE

AFTERPARTY:

as much as i was hyped for the modernist i could say i am even more excited for SHUMI!

i am sure he flies the cologne/kompakt flag high in his sound!! sweeet.

...all my kompakt tracks are on vinyl.. should i bother bringing records or will the needles just bounce off??? feel like dropping some classics ; )

Due to that reason there will be no turntables on the boat unfortunately mate. Would've loved to bring some wax too, but am going to buy a few classics digitally instead.

Just checked ticket sales, we are down to the last 10... last chance to get on board!
