Hello Melbournians!
I'm moving to Melbourne in about 10 days from Cairns (originally Toronto) and just wanted to send out a big hello to you all
Looking forward to some turbo jam times again....it's quite lacking in Cairns! |

I'm into a lot of variety of house and some techno. Trance hasn't really been on my plate but it's always fun every now and then! It's a bit ways out but my uni is at Bundoora so I found a place there.....probably best I stay away from the clublands to keep out of trouble as I've been in serious music withdrawls for the past year ![]() |

Bundoora, that's where I live. It's a beautiful neighbourhood and really isn't that far from the city. I think I can safely say, you'll enjoy living there.

I am living in Cairns right now and it takes easily 1 hour 15 minutes on the bus to get to the city and the bus only runs once an hour! If you miss it you're screwed and they're always late. Pretty sure public transit in Melbourne will own on so many levels ![]() I've heard Bundoora is beautiful and well I spent two years of my life in Shanghai; not really keen on being in the hustle and bustle of the city anymore. Are you studying at LaTrobe? |

Takes longer than that to get the tram from Bundy to the City - that is one long ride...

Was thinking that...trams are frequent and reliable (more reliable than the trains, especially in the summer months) but they ain't the quickest Would be quicky on train, from Watsonia, wouldn't it?

The time isn't an issue really. I won't be going to the city too too much, the reason I picked Bundoora was so I could walk to school and also stay out of trouble that one tends to get into when they live near the action :-P
What are some other fun things you guys recommend to do in Melbourne? Mum will be up visiting for a few days and we're thinking of doing the tram restaurant thing. Has anyone been on that? |

Has anyone been on that? no i haven't been on that tram, don't know anyone who has actually now that i think about it, lol. melbourne is known (and likes to be known) for the cool cafe vibe in the city. trendy cafe's n bars down alleyways. there's also some cool shops around - makes good spots for 'arty' photos lol. >>>degraves st<<< but watch the violence ;] lol.

i know huh! just imagine if this thread was in general though.kelly if you're into bar hopping, i recommend hitting some laneway bars. it's something about melbourne that is missing from every other city in this country. edit: ahhh beaten by 1 minute! also, check out hosier lane and a few other alleys around town for some awesome grafitti! |

lol...only in Melbourne! There's actually a "Laneways Walk" you can do (get info from Tourist information place in Bourke St Mall or Flinders Square) which takes you right through and around the city via all the cool laneways. Tis pretty ace!

So is this Brown Alley New Years Day party worth checking out? I've been reading about it on other threads and really don't have the money for a music festival ticket at the moment. Also what can orphans do on Christmas Day in Melbourne? It doesn't have to be clubbing I just don't want to spend Christmas at home alone ![]() |
