Well well well.. Rcoked up to planet tonight to meet up with some friends and to check out vandalism. Good vide, fair few people and everyone enjoying themselves. I said hello to everyone that I went to meet and decided to pull up a chair and watch vandalism.
I was watching for about 10mins and thought hmmm something is not right here, which really grabbed my attention. So I decicded to ignore everyone and everthing around me and concentrate on the aprarent mix.
After about 20-25mins I realized that something was really wrong with the mix and in fact there was NO mixing at all.
Let me explain why... I have never ever in my entire life ever seen any Dj cue a track in the breakdown of another tracj in 2secs and then bring that track in without touching the deck at all. The single Vandalism (having now split) spent the majority of the set with his headphones around his neck and looking at the crowd.
Planet has 4 decks, This joker of a Dj was using decks 1, 2, and 4 and deck 3 was on continuous play. Hmmm faking it much???

At the end of the "set" my mate politely approached him and said "no offense but I have never seen anyone mix so effortlessly before and it looked kind of fake" to get the response of "no mate it was not fake"..Then I stepped in and said "I have never seen any dj in my life cue a track in 2secs in a breakdown and then not even touch the other deck to start it, you are completely full of sh*t and that was entirely fake" to have him say "oh oh oh" turn his back and march out of the planet faster than an a olympic 100m sprinter.

I am soooooo angry... I then approached the DJ who was playing after Vandalism and had him read a few text msgs saying "WTF was that all about"... he agreed.

I then spoke to planet manager/owner and said "do you realise Vandalism just faked the whole set" to have him go "yeah whatever".

I am nothing but utterly disgusted..that this idiot Vandalism thought that no one in the club would realise he was faking the whole set.. MATE YOU ARE A DISGRACE!!!!!

Exactly. I can beatmatch without headphones if I'm using cdj's. Generally as long as I hit the play button EXACTLY on time, it will sound flawless too.

I can get it right about 75% of the time, 20% of the time it can be corrected with a few seconds with the headphones, the other 5% relies on me slightly adjusting the pitch for those 'hard to get' tracks or songs with a big swing in them.

The guy has obviously been dj'ing for a long time. I wouldn't be suprised if he was just really good at it.

if it was andy van playing then the dude doesn't need headphones, i've seen him play a set before without them without dropping a beat, he has been djing longer than most people on here (myself included) have been alive for....

andy van is awesome. he use to host a radio show that aired on b105 on saturday nights introducing dance music to australia when it wasn't quite mainstream yet and it was always on the money. use to be a big fan of the show and his djing. this guy is a legend of the aussie dance scene. pretty sure he's part of Madison Avenue as well.

i'll vouch for that.. i've seen him mix many times before over many years and the guy really is very very good.. i interviewed him about 5yrs ago and even asked him about how he manages to sometimes mix without headphones and he actually was quite humble about it and just said something to the effect that he just knows the music so very well.. So if it was Andy Van, then its probably just that he is just very very good.. I guess when you've spent so much time DJing, producing, and running your own label like he has, you would get to know the music - and the formula - so very well that you could do it without headphones..

Each artist has a different way of performing, and for someone like you to come on here and insult his integrity is just appalling.
