Hey - I received this email from a mate.. thought I would post it on here cos I cant go.

Earlier this year myself and a couple of friends put together the charity Zero 2 Hero after all of us had been impacted in our friends and families by suicide. After realising that more people suicide than die on our roads (almost double) each year we were shocked at the difference in funding and campaigning that these two issues receive. So we decided to do something about it, hence we started Zero 2 Hero.

Zero 2 Hero is a not-for-profit organisation set up and run by young West Australian Professionals who are committed to raising awareness and funds for the prevention of suicide in Australia. The funds we raise will go directly to organisations who are specialised in providing services and resources to impact this tragedy that affects so many. Zero 2 Hero will also lobby government bodies to run awareness campaigns such that people are aware of the huge amount of resources which are already available.

We are launching this charity with a Cocktail Carnivale party at Palias 85 (formerly The Oyster Bar, South Perth) on Saturday 21st November from 8pm overlooking the breathtaking views of the city. Your ticket includes cocktail on arrival, canapés, beer, wine, champagne and softies all night. There will be performers, a dj and a celebrity MC and many of Perth’s personalities, sports and business people. There will also be a live and silent auction raising funds for Suicide Prevention Australia, a public health advocate. Special guest Ros Worthington OAM and inspirational speaker will also be in attendance.

I think its a good cause to get behind, I am sure at some point in our lives we have all been touched by someone we know and care about taking their own life. If you can make it down I would thoroughly encourage it.
