5 Years of Future Classic : Henrik Schwarz, Château Flight + More

BECKS, INTHEMIX AND FBI PRESENT…

---------------------------------------------------------------------

5 YEARS OF FUTURE CLASSIC

Future Classic has been influential in pioneering new sounds across the spectrum of electronic music - from the cream of the current disco crop Aeroplane, Holy Ghost!, Mock & Toof, Idjut Boys, Todd Terje and Woolfy; to the deepest European house and techno with Ame, Isolée, Solomun, Luomo, Jimpster, Trickski and the Becks Berlin Sessions events; soul from Fat Freddy’s Drop, Jazzanova, Alice Russell and Rainer Trüby; as well as an unerring commitment to local talent with recent releases by Jamie Lloyd, Sidwho?, Arithmatix!, Loin Brothers, Deepchild and Peret Mako to name a few.

In addition to its aural activity, Future Classic is also known for its strong visual identity courtesy of its inhouse design studio which in addition to all the vinyl sleeves, event artwork and the Future Classic Review annual zine continues to create award-winning work for a variety of clients in the arts, hospitality and book publishing worlds.

Come and join us as we celebrate 5 Years with all of the local crew and two very special international guests across both main floors of the Civic and its laneway.

Buy your tickets online at inthemix.com.au and get an exclusive 5 Years Future Classic compilation traversing some of the high points of the labels history past, present and future.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

HENRIK SCHWARZ (LIVE / BERLIN / INNERVISIONS)

Henrik Schwarz’s productions and intoxicating live sets are suffused with the very stuff of life: rich with experience, possessed of untold depth and stuffed to the gills with music’s one true elixir - soul.

A long time veteran in the German deep house scene DJing was his first love, opening his eyes, and ears, to the soul and funk records of artists like Marvin Gaye and Cymande, a love affair that exists to this day as demonstrated by his mix for the legendary DJ Kicks series, or his edits of Stevie Wonder, Bill Withers and James Brown.

But a desire to breach musical and technological boundaries pushed Henrik into production where he forged a trademark sound marrying the power of contemporary dance music with his unique sense of subtlety and emotion. His remix of Walk A Mile In My Shoes for Coldcut on Ninja Tune became one of the biggest club hits of 2006, Leave My Head Alone Brain bridged the gap between jazz and techno, while his collaboration Where We At with Ame, Dixon and Derrick Carter marked the beginning of a fruitful and close collaboration with Innervisions.

Henrik’s laptop has become his weapon of choice when performing, providing the opportunity to road test his prolific output of original material and remixes for artists including Unkle, Underworld, Jesse Rose, Tosca, Jazzanova, Boy George, Alex Smoke, Carl Craig, Booka Shade, DJ Hell among others. The incredible feedback from these shows resulted in a Henrik Schwarz LIVE album on !K7, an entrée as we wait with eager anticipation for his debut long-player.

One of the most consistently creative artists working in electronic music, this is a rare opportunity to experience why Henrik Schwarz is one of the most requested live acts in dance music today.

CHATEAU FLIGHT (PARIS / DJ SET / VERSATILE RECORDS)

Chateau Flight are Parisian DJ/producers Gilb'r and Nicholas Chaix (I:Cube). Between the two of them they have a fine pedigree in electronic music spanning back to the early nineties. As a founding member of French radio station Radio Nova, Gilb'r played a major role in defining Paris' then burgeoning underground electronic music scene. Setting up the Versatile record label in 1996, the imprint's first release Disco Cubizm was from I:Cube and featured one of Daft Punk’s very first remixes; needless to say it went on to be a massive underground hit and Gilb’r has never looked back.

Revered as one of Europe's most sought after DJ/production teams, their music traverses territory from the deepest electronic dancefloor productions through to more worldly collaborations like their collaborative record with French avant-pop icon Bertrand Burgalat (Air, Depeche Mode) or their original score for the 1916 silent film Les Vampires.

In addition to releases on Versatile, Chateau Flight have also been releasing singles on Dixon and Ame's Innervisions label with many of their singles being licensed onto compilations for the likes of Get Physical, NRK, Rapster, Mule Musiq, Resist and more. Chateau flight have remixed the likes of Joakim, Beanfield, Air, Serge Gainsbourg and Atjazz for labels such as Ed Banger, !K7 and Poker Flat.

In 2007 Chateau Flight compiled the 5th installment in the Body Language mix series for Get Physical following on from entries in the series by Dixon, Jesse Rose, MANDY & DJ T, receiving praise from media worldwide.

Known on dancefloors around the world, Chateau Flight have an uncanny ability to references the past while never being anything less than fresh and contemporary. Their effortless blends of disco, house and techno show why in their homeland of France they're respected as royalty of the electronic music scene. Chateau Flight will be represented on this tour by Gilb'r.

Awesome lineup, both locals and internationals. Seems like there is a quality gig week in week out @ civic recently.
Was looking to catching Deepchild couple of times over summer and now he pops up at this and chemistry the next week. Quality..

In! This will be, um, classic. Henrik live is something very very special apparently so cant wait! Add Chateau Flight and its a line you cant ignore.

$40 bucks is a bargain for what your getting! Bargain at twice the price.

Going to b a large weekend this one. Henrik Schwarz, Chateau Flight, Funk Dvoid, Dj T, wow, I love summer in Sydney.

How much is it on the door?

I saw Garnier play live and dj, but it's pretty fucking redundant talking about Laurent Garnier in a Henrik Schwarz event page to be honest. Yeah they're both magic but they're very different artists.
