Being a bikie is a "disability", now, apparently

This is one of the silliest things I've seen for a while:

http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/new...-1225803949121

Anti-discrimination legislation in Australia operates on the basis of prohibited grounds, and it is only discrimination on a prohibited ground that makes discrimination unlawful. Physical features discrimiantion is unlawful in Victoria, but not in NSW - that would seem to me to be a much more promisng ground that disability or age.

Wayne Baffsky, it should be noted, is a criminal barrister who used to have the number plate 556A on his Mustang.

Is this any different to nightclubs with dress codes, or festivals with shirts on policy?

Something ironic about outlaws resorting to the law to get their way.

Is this a new thing? I've seen pubs in WA for years with signs on the door, and a list of clubs who aren't allowed to wear their colours inside.

556A?

Most of them end up with disabilities in the end, either from crashes or Kidney probs from the hard living.

Gang mentioned in the article had 5 members convicted of a gang rape and (I think) kidnap of a 19 year old girl (over a prolonged period) in Vic a couple of years back, and main founder was arrested as one of the main players in the biggest ever drug ingredients bust in Australia last year. And one of them headbutted my dad once. ****s. Funny how the law works isn't it.

I'd still love to learn its relevance though.

I'm guessing (shot in the dark) that it is a legal section that provides dodgy ways for law-types to get their criminal clients off the hook?

It's old section number for what is now a section 10 - charge found proven but no conviction recorded. In essence, it's the best possible sentencing result.

^^This is common place in Perth

I hope to christ it remains that way as well... there's enough to fear for ur own safety in clubs and bars these days without having to worry about these dickheads as well. Troy Mercanti's (a local finks member/media whore) latest exploits are an example of what happens when the general public and bikers mix

I've also seen the no colours thing at Festival entrances in Perth. I was under the impresssion that it was a requirement of the liquor license?
