Game of Thrones - A Telltale Games Series
They're finally releasing some info about this

http://www.telltalegames.com/blog/categories/blog

Based on HBO's award-winning television drama, Game of Thrones - A Telltale Games Series tells the story of House Forrester. Caught up in the events of The War of the Five Kings, they are placed in a precarious position where members of the household must do everything they can to prevent the house from meeting its doom.

Our game series is based on the world, characters and events seen in HBO's TV show, which in turn is based on George R. R. Martin's books (A Song of Ice and Fire). The events in our game series begin towards the end of Season Three of the TV show, and end right before the beginning of Season Five. You will visit familiar locations such as King's Landing and The Wall, as well as unfamiliar locations such as Ironrath, the home of House Forrester.

House Forrester is a noble house from the Wolfswood in the north of Westeros. Bannermen to House Glover, they have always offered unswerving loyalty to the ruling great house of the North – the Starks. The Forresters are seated at Ironrath, an imposing stronghold surrounded by towering ironwood trees. Built over fifteen hundred years ago by Cedric Forrester and his triplet sons, Ironrath is a testament to the strength and endurance of Ironwood. The Forrester house words are 'Iron from Ice', which echoes their belief that - like the ironwood itself - the adverse conditions and unforgiving landscape of the North only makes them stronger.

Ironrath sits on the edge of the largest ironwood forest in Westeros, which has proven to be a strategic advantage for the House. The trees are a valuable commodity; many of the best weapons, ships, and defensive structures include the use of ironwood. House Forrester controls the majority of the ironwood forests in the Wolfswood, much to the chagrin of their bitter rivals, House Whitehill.

Although the Forresters have not appeared in HBO's TV show, they are canon to the world created by George R. R. Martin, having appeared in the book 'A Dance with Dragons'.

You will play the game from five different points of view. Each character you play as is a member of House Forrester; either a direct family member, or a person in service to the House. Scattered across Westeros and Essos, each character will play their part in seeking to save House Forrester from destruction.

Playing as five characters not only reflects the epic scope of Game of Thrones, but is also something that the player needs to be mindful of. This is because the actions of one character can ripple out to affect the rest of House Forrester. Multiply the actions of one character by five, and you're truly playing the Game of Thrones…where you win, or you die.

Additional details on the series and its upcoming premiere episode, 'Iron From Ice' are forthcoming. Stay tuned here to the Telltale Games Blog, twitter, and Facebook pages for more information as we approach the premiere, the first of six episodes, which will be arriving for download soon on PC/Mac, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and iOS, with additional platforms to be announced.

I'm with quimby. I'm unsure on this one. Assuming it's a similar price point to previous games I'll still give it a go.

Wonder what the engine will be like. Walking Dead/Wolf Among Us obviously wouldn't work.

Why wouldn't it? I reckon it'll be just like that.

Considering how good Telltale have been since The Walking Dead & Wolf Among Us I have no doubt they'll succeed with this one too. It's an extension of the TV show so no doubt book die hards will cry blood.

I don't see the problem here, from what I can tell it will be a new story aside from the main cannon. I quite like that because it's always interesting to see what else is going down in the realm.

Let's hope they can fix some of the issues around stuttering / loading on this one. It really breaks the immersion when it does it in TWD.

Just played the first bit. It's exactly in the usual Telltale style. Lots of QTE.

Can already tell there's going to be a shitload of backstabbing & intrigue with some heavy choices to make.

They even re-created the tv show intro in the engine. I stuck my headphones near the mrs when it was playing & she got excited thinking the tv show was coming back

in the case of telltale episodic games, you get all the episodes when they come out.

the game is essentially six chapters. if you pay $9 each episode, it'll cost you $54. if you buy the season pass, it's only $44.

just finished ep1
Spoiler:

i feel like i made the wrong choice in basically every situation. i said enough to please cersei but that's about it. ramsey was so fucking cool, but at the same time fuck that guy in the face. so now im dead and i'll have to live with that for another two months till the next ep comes out. gay.

this is so cool though. i feel like putting it all on from season 1 and watching through - you know that nagging feeling that usually gets you around jan/feb when the new season is coming out soon?

would also like to declare my love for telltale. walking dead s1 and 2 were great, wolf among us was awesome, and i absolutely loved back to the future. long live telltale.

It's $33.45 on XB1.
They changed the prices overnight, I think.
Cause the PS4 SP is now $33.60.

Gonna give this another play-through tonight, and try making all the opposite decisions to what I made last time.

Nismo, you mentioned in one of the other telltale game threads (TWD S2 maybe?) about how these 'choices' are merely an illusion of choice, and don't necessarily impact the direction of the story (although it leads you to believe that it has). I'm keen to see whether it does change anything major - I am hoping that the choice tree** will expand now, given that we have graduated to next gen.

**for anyone who hasn't seen this term, the choice tree is a diagram showing the repercussions of all of your choices, like this one for the walking dead season one (spoilers): http://1u88jj3r4db2x4txp44yqfj1.wpen...-gamesbeat.jpg

The Wolf Among Us has some pretty major changes depending on choices, such as saving the prince, or killing Tweedle Dee. But the overall story stays the same. I did like how you had so many choices with the main bad dude at the end.

Also on topic, looking to play this on the weekend. I've been too busy with work atm, too tired to play after.

Yep and i still say - doesn't matter what you choose - the main overall story stays the same. The rest are details & minor deviations along the way.

Hopefully this one has major changes - the amount of conniving & backstabbing in got provides a great playground for huge story arcs, but i doubt they'd go to that much effort when they can stick with an already proven formula of major story never changes, minor details create the illusion of difference on the journey.

I think that, given the parameters of the story are all but set already (seeing as the books are well beyond this point), I will forgive the fact that the main story is scripted and it won't change all that much. I'm not sure that it is a lack of effort as you say (RE: huge story arcs) - they don't have a lot to play with in terms of how much of an impact house forrester can make on the GoT universe.

What I would like, however, is some serious input into who lives and who dies (not just that you choose to save someone, only for them to end up dead 10 minutes later, making your decision irrelevant). If i choose to let someone live, I want that to mean something - for them to help me on my quest or for them to stab me in the back and make me regret it... that sort of thing.

wonder if GRRM will work house forrester into the next book!

I'm not saying it's a lack of effort - i just mean it'd require an absolute fuckload more to create completely different main story arcs. But until they actually do that I'm still always going to be disappointed replaying these games because I always end up with the same major events no matter what I choose.

They're still fun the first & sometimes 2nd playthroughs. I'm sure they'll be fun to revisit in a year or two and I can be an arsehole to everyone

I agree with the save someone only to have them die 10 minutes later. That's just frustrating as all hell but it's also how GRRM rolls. Just when you start to like someone they die.

re this 1st ep:
Spoiler:
and in this one i was also WHAT THE FUCK YOU ****S when bastard bolton got stab stab stabby with young lord forrester's neck. I wonder if that is a major unchangeable event or if you can actually avoid it?

Loved episode 1, thought episode 2 was a little dull though. Hanging for the next one.
I don't think the visuals work quite as well as they did with TWD comic style. Makes the wooden animation oddly more noticeable. Love that they actually use the real voice talent though.
