Fargo (FX)
Here's some teaser trailers of the new FX series based on the film Fargo:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F_t9C...CFqfR3KCMfBYXk

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2802850/

Starts April 15 and stars Billy Bob Thorton, Saul Goodman, that guy from the hobbit, and Tom Hanks son... and the episodes are written by the Coen Brothers themselves

Amazing show.

Mn, this is so good. Freeman with a Minnesota accent weirded me out for ten minutes or so but he's great as usual, Billy Bob is better than great. Someone told me his character is meant to be kind of like the god Loki- he just pushes people in a certain direction to let consequences unfold. I love how it's based on the film in style, & setting and how many of the characters resemble ones from the film but it's still an oringinal storyline so you pretty much get to have your cake and eat it by revisiting the world of one of the greatest films ever (Fargo is easily in my top 5 of all time) yet at the same time watch something fresh unfold. I just hope it keeps up as strong.

Guys just so everyone is aware this premieres on SBS in a week or so- with that in mind we should probably observe spoiler rules since for once a good show is getting a fairly prompt free to air Australian telecast.

Ep1 was a fantastic return to the setting. SpaceMonkey summarised it perfectly.

Ep2 was a surprisingly quiet follow up to the events of the first. A few more introductions, a few seeds planted.

In Ep3, we get the first real clue to how many layers this onion will have.

This is a good show. People should be watching this show.

Was cross with myself that I didn't pick up the significance of the ice scraper in episode 3. So episode 4 was like "Oh cool", quickly followed by "I'm retarded"

Agreed. People moan at Hollywood a lot when they rehash a movie as a television series, but when the end result is an extremely well made series like this one, then I'm 100% ok with it

They didn't even have to call it Fargo really, it just has the same quirkiness as the movie I guess.

The storylines are linked. Currently my favourite show on TV, episode 7 felt like a bit of a letdown because of the brilliance of episode 6 but yeah shitloads happened. Such great writing.

the link between the storylines is pretty tenuous. the motifs in the tv show are definitely a continuation of the film, which is exactly what makes it so great.

I'd hardly say it's tenuous, one of the main characters from episodes 3-5 was linked by a major plot point from the film, but it's clever in its subtlety. It's early days and I hope they find more ways to make those subtle links, gives a fanboi like me a massive boner.

when it jumped forward a year

Granted, both eps following the shootout have been relatively quiet. But they're not slow like, Walt and the fly or Dany in a pyramid. To me they're beautifully crafted and still deeply captivating. This show has a constant undercurrent of imminent disaster that has me dreading every slow pan.
