Apparently united fans were still singing ' this is what it feels like to be a city fan' when aguero scored

Epic end to a pretty crazy season.

We somehow snatched third. Looking for a pretty big improvement for next season! Can hopefully hold on to RvP.

But if we can get ridiculous money for him and can pick up 2-3 quality players from the sale I wouldn't be against it.

Money would be great but keeping RvP and signing him for a few more years is what we need. We're finally looking like the team might come together with a couple more crucial signings but I fear that the loss of van Persie could kill morale.

Didn't Wenger say he wouldn't sell him? That he was too important to the club and that he'd just let him play for another year then leave on a free? I'd google it, but CBF.

"To be perfectly honest, I’m quite glad to see the back of this season. It can go and sodomise itself with a rusty spoon as far as I’m concerned. We can use the summer to recharge our batteries, take stock of where we are, and then make plans to improve. In the end there was a 20 point gap between us and the champions, and we need to work on closing that.

Still, for today I’m quite happy. The league table doesn’t lie and if we’re in third position it’s because we deserve it. We’ve had some dark times this season but some good ones too. There are plenty of positives, plenty of things we can build on, and let’s not forget that our joy is exacerbated by Sp*rs choking on their own misery. Balance of power shifting my hole.

Goodbye 2011-12, roll on next season."

Amen to that my Irish bredren

yep... there were 7 english players in our starting 11 yesterday and plenty more where that came from

it's the main reason why we have regressed. english players are shite. so fucking depressing how many garbage english "footballers" we have in our squad.

Poms play shitty football when left to their own devices. One of the reasons why the EPL has become so good is because of the diversity of the players, which have spurred on each other and resulted in an increase in quality of both the remaining English and foreign players.

there are very few world class english players and they are all already at big clubs who won't sell them. fucking sickening to think we wasted 70 mil on carroll, downing & henderson. that kind of money could have bought far better players abroad. if we sign any more english players this summer i just might kmf

the stats conor posted are clearly from last season, unless blackpool, west ham and birmingham managed to play 38 premier league games each this season without any of us noticing?

I find it amazing that in 19 years of professional football, Ryan Giggs hasn't broken into the English team yet.

Except for the fact that Yugoslavia was a coalition, with the head of state being a Croat (Tito), then a war broke out when one side wanted absolute power. Oh and hey, guess who in this equation is actually truly independent now?
Do you still technically answer to a royal?

EDIT - Also, while I've got you. Shoot me through that paper on vaccines if you've got the full copy.

Yeah it kind of makes you really think about the overinflated price of English players when you consider Pool paid £70 million for Caroll, Downing and Henderson and Manchester City paid £68 million for Aguero (£38m), Silva (£24m) and Kompany (£6m)

And he's still only 26, just hitting his peak. I reckon if we sold him now (which we'd never do) he'd go for a world record price for a defender, no doubt about it.

Indeed, marvellous achievement. I take my hat off to Newcastle. They bought well, played well and they well and truly deserved to be where they finished. Most people (including myself) expected them to be flirting with relegation, not the Champions League.

Unfortunately the truth of being a club that buys cheap and pays average wages is that when you overachieve, clubs with deeper pockets circle. That's what used to happen to us all the time before we were bought out. Trying to replace them the same way is a gamble because there is no science in trying to pluck more players like that out of the wilderness: for every Ben Arfa there's three Joey Barton's and for every Papiss Cisse there's five Faustino Asprilla's (remember him from your last big run?)

If more than half of Ba, Cisse, Tiote, Ben Arfa, Krul and Cabaye are still in your squad come the beginning of next season, I will eat said hat I just took off.

I don't want it to happen myself as I've enjoyed watching Newcastle play, I just don't see Mike Ashley not taking a big payday now he has the chance to get some money back -- especially considering how long he's been trying to sell the club

Yeah definitely... agreed on all points.

If all those players were sold, we'd profit £10M+ on each player. Would Ashley re-invest the profits in higher £ signings though? Probably not, which is why he's still a cockface despite the good form on the pitch this year. Like you said, expecting our scouts to consistently make signings as good as those guys every couple of years is unrealistic. Ashley will try though

We can hover around 4th-8th place but need to spend big to go any further. Never going to happen with the current situation.

Need a dodgy billionaire to buy the club

Taken from another forum.........

Let us suppose that a healthy Wilshere, through his creativity, would have led to one goal every other League game. Not that he would have necessarily scored it, but someone would have.

Starting with the first League game of the season, and one game off, one game on, from that point forward, presuming he doesn't get hurt at all during the season, and keeping in mind that there will be some games where it ends up making no difference, it ends up making a difference as follows:

August 13, 0-0 draw with Newcastle becomes a 1-0 win. Gain of 2 points.

August 28, 8-2 loss to Manchester United becomes an 8-3 loss. No difference.

September 17, 4-3 loss to Blackburn becomes a 4-4 draw. Total gain: 3 points.

October 2, 2-1 loss to Tottenham becomes a 2-2 draw. Total gain: 4 points.

October 23, 3-1 win over Stoke becomes 4-1. No change.

November 5, 3-0 win over West Brom becomes 4-0. No change.

November 26, 1-1 draw with Fulham becomes a 2-1 win. Total gain: 6 points, and it's not even December.

December 10, 1-0 win over Everton becomes 2-0. No change.

December 21, 2-1 win over Aston Villa becomes 3-1. No change.

December 31, 1-0 win over Queens Park Rangers becomes 2-0. No change.

January 15, 3-2 loss to Swansea becomes a 3-3 draw. Total gain: 7 points.

February 1, 0-0 draw with Bolton becomes a 1-0 win. Total gain: 9 points.

February 11, 2-1 win over Sunderland becomes 3-1. No change.

March 3, 2-1 win over Liverpool becomes 3-1. No change.

March 21, 1-0 win over Everton becomes 2-0. No change.

March 31, 2-1 loss to QPR becomes a 2-2 draw. Total gain: 10 points.

April 11, 3-0 win over Wolverhampton becomes 4-0. No change.

April 21, 0-0 draw with Chelsea becomes a 1-0 win. Total gain: 12 points.

May 5, 3-3 draw with Norwich becomes a 4-3 win. Total gain: 14 points.

Manchester City 89
Manchester United 89
Arsenal 84

Now, take 2 goals that increase wins, and apply them to...

December 18, 1-0 loss to Man City, becomes 1-1.
January 22, 2-1 loss to Man United, becomes 2-2.

Man City 87
Man United 87
Arsenal 86

All it takes then is one more goal created by Jack in a draw, turned into a win, and Arsenal win the League.

The true loss wasn't the punk who didn't want to play for Arsenal because he was homesick, or the punk who didn't want to play for Arsenal because he was greedy. It was the kid who did want to play for Arsenal, but couldn't because of injury.

If Spurs had bought the best players available they would have won the league.

That JW thing is the biggest wank I've ever read.

What about subtracting the goals attributed to the players who wouldn't of played if he was available? Arteta? Rosicky? They were 2 of the form players in the league when le arse had their purple patch and went from shit to not so shit.
