If Michael Dawson hadnt been injured all season we would of conceded 1 less goal every second game and it would of taken alot more than 3 keeper gift goals for arsenal to nab us last game of the season

If arsenal had less points than spurs we would have finished below them.

Fergie at the MUFC dinner;

Quote:

"I don't know how you managed to stand up (for his standing ovation) after yesterday - I've been horizontal for the last 24 hours! Oh, what a day, Jesus Christ! We don't deserve that. You supporters, how you put up with that I don't know. These guys they did their best, honestly, they were fantastic, well done boys. They were brilliant, brilliant boys. I read an article this morning - the Racing Post - the only paper I read by the way! Says that we need 8 new players, Jesus Christ! First of all where do you get 8 players, and why do I need 8 players?
I have got a lot of young players here who are evolving into the club, of course I've got the old masters Giggs and Scholes and Ferdinand and most importantly, and you know you're not understand this, but I've got a fantastic staff. Fantastic. The medical staff, the sports science who bloody hell, they are bright boys, they talk stuff that I have never heard of before and hope I never hear again! They are beyond my intellect. I'm a dinosaur, I'm an absolute dinosaur but what I am, I'm a winner.

And I want all these players and I said it to them yesterday, when we lost the league to Feeder Club FC United in 1992 the young players came out that day and the Liverpool supporters were asking for their autographs, Giggs, Scholes, Neville, Beckham, and they were tearing them up, tearing their autographs up. And I said to Giggs and the boys 'remember this day', and exactly what I said to them yesterday - those Sunderland fans were cheering for city, remember the day. We won't forget that, I'm telling you. So well done to the players, a fantastic group, they will be alright, don't worry about them, a great bunch of lads, brilliant, well done boys."

Starting with the first League game of the season, and one game off, one game on, from that point forward, presuming he doesn't get hurt at all during the season, and keeping in mind that there will be some games where it ends up making no difference, it ends up making a difference as follows:

August 13, 0-0 draw with Newcastle becomes a 1-0 win. Gain of 2 points.

August 28, 8-2 loss to Manchester United becomes an 8-3 loss. No difference.

September 17, 4-3 loss to Blackburn becomes a 4-4 draw. Total gain: 3 points.

October 2, 2-1 loss to Tottenham becomes a 2-2 draw. Total gain: 4 points.

October 23, 3-1 win over Stoke becomes 4-1. No change.

November 5, 3-0 win over West Brom becomes 4-0. No change.

November 26, 1-1 draw with Fulham becomes a 2-1 win. Total gain: 6 points, and it's not even December.

December 10, 1-0 win over Everton becomes 2-0. No change.

December 21, 2-1 win over Aston Villa becomes 3-1. No change.

December 31, 1-0 win over Queens Park Rangers becomes 2-0. No change.

January 15, 3-2 loss to Swansea becomes a 3-3 draw. Total gain: 7 points.

February 1, 0-0 draw with Bolton becomes a 1-0 win. Total gain: 9 points.

February 11, 2-1 win over Sunderland becomes 3-1. No change.

March 3, 2-1 win over Liverpool becomes 3-1. No change.

March 21, 1-0 win over Everton becomes 2-0. No change.

March 31, 2-1 loss to QPR becomes a 2-2 draw. Total gain: 10 points.

April 11, 3-0 win over Wolverhampton becomes 4-0. No change.

April 21, 0-0 draw with Chelsea becomes a 1-0 win. Total gain: 12 points.

May 5, 3-3 draw with Norwich becomes a 4-3 win. Total gain: 14 points.

Manchester City 89
Manchester United 89
Arsenal 84

Now, take 2 goals that increase wins, and apply them to...

December 18, 1-0 loss to Man City, becomes 1-1.
January 22, 2-1 loss to Man United, becomes 2-2.

Man City 87
Man United 87
Arsenal 86

All it takes then is one more goal created by Jack in a draw, turned into a win, and Arsenal win the League.

The true loss wasn't the punk who didn't want to play for Arsenal because he was homesick, or the punk who didn't want to play for Arsenal because he was greedy. It was the kid who did want to play for Arsenal, but couldn't because of injury.

And just my opinion.
I think JW is the best prospect England has seen since Gazza. But this injury has the potential to shatter that.

To be fair to hipswinger, he never said he agreed with it.

True, it is a crock of shite, but it was an interesting read none-the-less.

But it fails to factor in injuries by the other team. If Vidic was playing for United, the 2-1 loss wouldn't become 2-2, it would be 3-0.
And you could say this for any situation really.

The list goes on...

Had to laugh at the difference in clothing, style etc in that photo. AOC and Wilshere go with plain, safe options.. and Frimpong just goes straight up Dench.

I've just come in to say that I don't have much cause for watching the Premier League these days, I don't often find myself awake at that time of night

but that shit was the most amazing thing that ever happened in sport, ever.

That was like Alan Bond and Serena Williams had a baby, it grew up under the foster care of Tiger Woods and Roger Federer (who had formed a gay relationship after meeting at a gillette commercial), joined the USA dream team and went on to score the winning field goal in the gold medal game against the heavily favoured russian ice hockey team.

that shit was like all the Qld Origin miracles rolled into a ball, and then Leo Barry caught that very ball at a pivotal stage of the Grand Final.

that shit was like Michael Jordan and Bugs Bunny fucking up the martians while Sandra Bullock mentored a troubled black youth to become an NFL star and Michael Phelps sat there smoking bongs through the whole movie THE NIGHT BEFORE HIS BUTTERFLY FINAL

seriously. I wish I gave a shit, I wish I followed Utd, or City, or QPR, just so I could have been part of that pure emotion.

also I wish I bought shares in some GIF maker like 2 weeks ago

Football is pretty dire at times mang. The arsenal marseille match in the champs league this season for instance. We got the goal in the end, but the hour and a half that lead to it was painful.

Yeah, but games can still have flair, even without goals.

Chelsea-Tottenham's 0-0 at Stamford.

And they Arsenal Chelsea game, to a lesser extent.

Australians Brett Holman and Chris Herd face a nervous wait to discover their new boss at Aston Villa following Alex McLeish's sacking.

The Birmingham club reacted to a poor Barclays Premier League campaign by punting the Scottish coach less than 24 hours after the final whistle was blown for the season.

McLeish was an unpopular appointment from the outset, having been in charge as cross-town rivals Birmingham City were relegated last year.

Aston Villa nearly endured the same fate this time around.

They only avoided the drop by two points following a late-season form slump that coincided with prolific striker Darren Bent's injury-enforced absence.

Related ContentUnwelcome: Villa boss hits out at Herd + 5 England: Brett Holman signs with Aston Villa + 19 End of sidebar. Return to start of sidebar.
Socceroo Holman is due to arrive at Aston Villa in the off-season after nearly a decade playing in the Netherlands.

The hard-working attacking midfielder was one of McLeish's last signings and the 28-year-old must hope that he is part of the new coach's plans.

McLeish's demise does not come at a great time for West Australian Herd who had just started establishing himself in the first team after coming up through the club's junior ranks.

McLeish was a fan of the young defensive midfielder, playing him in a crucial match against Tottenham Hotspur this month only days after Herd was involved in a late-night scuffle outside a nightclub.

The new coach is not expected to have huge amounts of money to spend on the playing squad after the club announced in February losses of more than £50 million ($A80.67) last year.

Aston Villa have sold the likes of James Milner, Ashley Young, Gareth Barry and Stewart Downing in the past two years with Bent the major signing.

"We need to be clear and candid with ourselves and with supporters about what we have lacked in recent years," Villa's US-based owner Randy Lerner told the club's website.

"Compelling play and results that instil a sense of confidence that Villa is on the right track have been plainly absent."

The main difference for me and the thing that is missing more often in football is the intensity level of Aussie rules.

Anzac day match between essendon and collingwood this year, came down to 1 point but both teams were completely fucked afterwards, running on empty, nothing left in the tank.

as a city fan, the experience of watching the game live was so amazingly incredible and something i will always remember and compare things to. I woke up the neighbours when that last goal went in...couldnt believe it at all, i thought i had dreamt it when i woke up later in the day, completely surreal.

As a pure fan of team sport, everyone in the world, football fan or not, would have to appreciate that finish.

Im still reeling today, we finally proved to all the haters that we are a champion team and not just a team of champions. Money cant buy guts and determination and we showed both in spades.

It was good to finally see a proper smile on Mancini's face!

I dunno eh... some football matches are pretty intense.

Like AFL, its also pretty hard to get a feel for the pace and everything going on off the ball without being in the stadium watching football live (and I'm not talking about A-League or other 2nd or 3rd rate leagues)

You see a bit of that in the G'Day League when finals go past 90 minutes.

Europeans think it churlish to run.

Anzac day match between essendon and collingwood this year, came down to 1 point but both teams were completely fucked afterwards, running on empty, nothing left in the tank.

I don't know, there are some pretty dire games of Aussie Rules each weekend dude. Same with League. Same with Union. Actually most games of Union these days are dire but you get my point.

I've said it before, but for me, a great game of Football = a great game of AFL = a great game of League = a great game of Union. If the teams, in all codes, try to win, try to attack, then it's simply good viewing because they all have different skill sets that you can appreciate.

Wilshire isn't the Saviour of Football. Wilshire is the Saviour of Saviours. Even Jesus knows this.

Its not often a league of 38 games (3420 mniutes) not to mention FA cup, league cup, european cup can have the title decided in the last 20 seconds of a match, possibly the only game left as well in which it was the last minute of the 12' season. Emotional rollercoaster, I cant even be mad tbh .

In Melbourne maybe but to the rest of the world you cant compare any AFL to what we witnessed.

The fact is approx 1 billion people were interested & would have watched Citehh v QPR. That creates intensity in itself.

That will Never happen in AFL NRL or Rugby.

When the Brisbane Roar cam e from 2 goals down v Central Coast last year the decibel reading was the highest it was ever recorded at Suncorp Stadium. I cant begin to imagine what it would of been like at Ethiad Stadium.

That will Never happen in AFL NRL or Rugby.

Never.

Um, Leo Barry, taking a speccy in the back pocket, with only a kick in it, against the Eagles, so the Swans win their first premiership in decades, in front of 90 thousand people, in 2005: shit woulda got real loud.

Or the Eagles scuppering play in the Swans forward pocket in 2006, again, only a kick in it, 90 thousand people at the G: shit woulda got loud.
