Supposedly it wasn't just his goals that caught the eye, but his passing, touches, movement etc. Moyes said that he had wanted to start him a fair bit earlier than this round but it hadnt worked out until now.

Going to watch the replay of the match in half an hour, am looking forward to it. Not surprised to see him grab the headlines considering our comments in this thread recently about his appearance here in Syd and sub appearances so far this season.

Eurosport contesting that his performance masked how shit united were described them thus so:

At least watching paint dry comes with the potential to get off on the resultant fumes.

Well played.

Just walked outside (in Kensington) and no one is to be seen, there must be a league game on or something involving Souths or Easts.

Yeah I thought he was one of, if not our best player before the goals. Looked like he was full of experience ad maturity whereas NANi looked like his junior.

Great technique, creative, his balance any he ability to glide past people is awesome. Tops it off with a mature arrogance ad shows no fear. Exciting player! Obv still a long way to go and still raw just yet.

Need him to sign the damn contract!

Commentator said it - football, what a game. How this one just turned. I honestly thought Norwich were going to grab a second and win it, looked that way. Then mistake at the back and Chelsea go in front, then Willian pulls that out...

Wanted to see Gnabry in the starting 11 tonight. I guess with everyone fit that's difficult. Ozil, Ramsey, Wilshere, Flamini, Arteta, Rosicky, Gnabry is about the order of favour (give or take) Wenger sees at the moment, and usually only plays 5 at any one time, meaning 2 have to miss out. Not bad options with Rosicky and Gnabry though, considering Rosicky was a part of the 11 in the impressive Napoli match

Ah yeh, hardly 'everyone' as per my comment... when those 3 come back into the fold that's one decent selection headache to have. That midfield should get better as years go on *if* Arsenal hold on to them

Amalfitano is quality. Follows up his brilliant layoff assist and solo goal against man utd with another great assist tonight.

Wilshere is so overrated. Edit: and then comes a second half goal and a pass from him which would have set up the winner

My take aways from that game:

1. Wet Spam played very well. Executed their game plan to a tee
2. Defoe should never start in the league for Tottenham again. He had no less than 3 clear cut chances today. Utter failure to put them away meant that we left ourselves open by pushing everything forward when we went behind
3. Walker should not have been playing half fit. Naughton on the right and Fryers on the left should have been the choice.
4. Poor tactics and selection from AVB today. Deserved to lose.
5. I would enjoy scraping my eyes out with a rusty spoon more than rewatching that game

I dozed my way through most of the game (I have an excellent natural defense mechanism when I'm watching sport and it's not going my way: I fall asleep) however I did enjoy the shit out of this:

Really missed our wingers/inside forwards, whatever you wanna call them tonight......
5 central mids all playing, would of rathered not break up the Ramsey, OZIL, Flamini mid. Arteta just sat too deep.

Going to be interested to see how Santi goes out wide with OZIL.
So Cazorla, Theo back after break, ox and Podolski not that far away, it's going to be nice.
Nov the big month for us.

Yeah, November is massive. A big win in the KYF Derby required to get it off to the right start.

Palace played well in spurts against History, just need to get some consistency in our play.

Really need to win against Fulham next game, christ i'm looking forward to being there for that

Watching the game again yesterday, I think Palace's performance was a bit flattering. Almost all of your joy was down our right flank where we had farking Raheem Sterling playing as a wing back and he was getting opened up defensively....a better side would have destroyed us down there.

Spurs. Alan is going to have a field day with that on The Tuesday Club.

WBA deserved a point, but we need yo win our next two games to get some momentum for out big November.

Santi will be fine wide - he's played there often enough for Malaga and Spain.

We do get too narrow when we don't have one pacey winger to stretch the play. Even when he's playing not that well. The threat of his pace, stretches defences.

good night of results for us.

Toon away then West Brom at home next two matches before the KYF Cup.

We always seem to smack newcastle, not sure why. West Brom wont be an easy game given their form, but we should win at home.

Santi does cut back alot tho when he's playing in that wide area.
Yep for all Theos frustration, he's one of the key men we need on the field.

What did you think of Arteta, felt he slowed us down alot last night......
