HE'S NOT ON THE MEMBERSHIP MATERIAL!

I don't quite understand why West Coast are prepared to downgrade pick 6 to pick 11, in return for an upgradt of 40 to 30 something (obstensibly just so they can get get Yeo). You must be able to throw a blanket over the kids after the first couple.

Did you hear the convo? It came from the same bloke who made the call that melbourne were trading pick 2 for tyson thats why they weren't dismissing it.

the pies one is bonkers, they always come out in front!

Nah, I didn't hear anything. I would argue that we would be paying overs if that occurred. GWS are clearly desperate to get in some established talent. Add to that Gibbs is under contract and Boyd is still an unknown quantity, regardless of how much he is dominating the under 18s. Straight swap would get there taking into account all these factors.

WC seem convinced that the bloke they want will still be there at 11, so they have traded pick 6 for pick 11 and Yeo. If the kid is still there, they will effectively pick up Yeo for nix....doesn't seem that crazy when you look at it that way.

yeah true true.

I actually think that's a pretty fair deal for Gibbs. Harder to find decent full forwards than midfielders, mind you next year apparently there are 4 or 5 gun forwards.

That's why I don't buy into the Boyd stuff too much. I'm sure he's a gun but they were calling Patton a once in a generation forward too (and there is nothing to suggest he won't be a gun too). But KP kids are still an unknown prospect and a risk

I guess my thoughts are they are worth the risk when they are like Boyd.

Ah for sure..You have to pay for that kind of quality. I just get nervous when people start talking about selling the farm for it, particularly given you don't neccessarily need that kind of KP to win a flag.

daniel cross is off to the demons on a one year deal, with the option to extend to 2.

reckon he is a pretty shrewd pickup... was playing well the last 2 months of the year.

He was only playing to shut a few up inside the club that were (apparently) upset that he was being squeezed out, he was ok in the last few games but he has been well past it for about 3-4 seasons. He's been a great servant for the bulldogs but he wasn't in our top 25 in my opinion and he's too slow and ineffective with his disposal so he'll fit in nicely at the dees.

That is the boooolll shiiit you and Gravy peddled at the back end of last season. But it's wrong. Try getting to a prelim, aka top 4, without it. You don't. Fo sho, you prolly don't win the granny cause of the KPF, but you certainly get there. Or, you won't without someone using up the oppos tactics. You just don't. You don't win the Gee Eff because of the KPF but you have to use up a good player or two in the overall.

They aren't saying its easy, they are saying it's doable.

Hell, we had Earl Spalding at CHF and only lost 2 games in 95.

There is a difference between needing a serviceable to decent kp and needing a dominant AA type.

That bloke went ok.

Geez the Pies have done alright in terms of renewing the list. Thomas and Shaw are big losses but gaining Adams will offset that. Then still have picks 6 and 10 to go with the 3 first rounders last year.

Who was mostly playing at FF at that point of his career and was not the player he had been, although still quite good.

Always land on their feet.

On trade radio yesterday they could not believe west coasts trade with the pies.

fucked fixture!

2014 carlton only play richmond once. we're not playing them r1 anymore either, instead we're playing port at etihad (grim).

r1 blues/tiges was one of the best fixtures imo as all the hype and anticipation makes for a huge crowd and a cracking game of footy.

dnw port and dnw etihad, we need to fuck that pos stadium off soon i reckon

That only occurred by the G is unavailable for the traditional Carlton-Tiges round 1 game.

etihad is great for AFL - even if you are in the back row, you feel like you are right over the top of the game.

Try sitting up in the nose bleed section at the G.

Etihad is shit for the round ball however (except for when they bring the seats in)

I was only basing my comment on the previous statement that you cant see anything from up on level 3 at etihad... its certainly better than the 'G'

Anyhow, Looks like Essendon has traded pick 48 for Kurt Aylett and Shaun Edwards from GWS.

I guess we needed an injection of new blood...

HAs been great recently, hasn't it? The final would have only added to mix.

When was the last time either of those two GWS guys played a game?

No idea. Barely heard of either of them. Seems like a reasonable trade on our behalf to get two for the price of one who they should be better placed (age wise) to support our "premiership window"

it doesnt seem like a reasonable trade when it probably now means the bulldogs won't make a trade offer and get crameri for nothing in psd

Who has the number one pick in the PSD? What number do the Bulldogs come in at? There is no guarantee he will put himself up for it either given he might end up at a club he doesn't want to play for.

He would actually complement GWS more than the Doggies - he's not good enough to be the focal point and is much better as a third banana.

But he'll get to the Doggies... Essendon trading their first pick makes it more likely they'll take the Doggies second rounder imo.
