he is with an aussie chick, his family are all in sydney, in the uk the national team are shit and will be for a while, he comes back here he will dominate again, and i think with third party sponsorships from rustys mates, the money will be the same
he could come back for two years and still easily go back for the next world cup

Burgess is an awkward fit for union. Unlike Sonny, I don't think he's mobile enough to play in the centres, while its near impossible to 'learn' how to play as a back rower at this stage. I thinks it's as much a realisation that he's not good at it.

I know they didn't give a shit... it was still funny seeing how fucking lame it was though.

I guarantee if they instituted an Aboriginal war dance now, the Wallabies would come up with a better effort than that, whether they care for it or not. The amount of bad PR they would get for putting in an effort like that ABs one isn't something they'd want even if they cared little for it personally.

Agree on the first bit, he doesn't have the speed or hands for centre. I wouldn't say learning to play in the forwards is impossible though, look at Brad Thorn, the guy switched from League in his mid-late 20s and became an All Black legend (ie performed at a higher level than Sam is ever gonna have to with Englol). With application he could probably be converted to a decent blindside flanker or number 8 I reckon.

Lock is a bit different to the back row though, particularly in terms of the breakdown and forcing turnovers.

Still a ton of specialised skills to learn, compared to back play. Anyway note I didn't say openside flanker, where the prime responsibility for contesting the breakdown rests. I'd use him more as a ball carrying 6 or 8.

He was Bath's best player in the Premiership final last season - at blindside.

Fair play, I haven't seen much (any) of his work at club level. I still think it would be hard to get up to international speed - the current southern hemisphere backrowers would murder him imo

If it does eventuate I'm happy because I'm a South Sydney supporter but on the other hand I would have liked to have seen him succeed at No.6 for England. Oh well you can't have the best of both worlds unless you're a freak like Sonny Bill Williams.

Personally I think Issy will be a bigger poster boy for code changes. There's something about that guy I really like.

I can only assume he's had the same press training as other League players, but he doesn't come off like a meat head or a douche like so many others. I'm really hoping he has a long a successful career in Union.

Id put that more down to him being a devout mormon, he's polite and well spoken like a lot of churchy types.

Motherfuckers acting like they forgot about Nathan Blacklock

No actually Andrew Walker was who I wanted to mention. He was brilliant at both codes before he fucked it up. You'd imagine he would have killed the AFL as well.

Australia's World Cup final tactics have been leaked after staff were pictured with their game plans in hand.

Head coach Michael Cheika and assistant Mario Ledesma were spotted holding the pieces of paper at Friday's captain's run at Twickenham, before Saturday's final against holders New Zealand.

Among the instructions were to "expose" All Blacks wings Nehe Milner-Skudder and Julian Savea under the ball.

They were also told to "rattle" Kiwi number eight Kieran Read at restarts.

Yeah they're definitely open for it, it's on their Facey page. I'd say a lot of pubs that have decent sportsball setups will be open specially for it.

Great win. I thought the Wallabies gave it a really solid go in the second half but the All Blacks were just too good. Kinda wish I'd blown 300 quid on a ticket now...

Shit happens- you can't blame the ref for a 14 point loss, if you're not good enough to overcome the odd shit decision you're not good enough, the ABs learned that in 2007 when the French scored the decisive try off a pass that was just as forward.

If you want to blame something (other than the ABs being awesome) I'd point the finger at the Wallaby lineout, pretty hard to win without good 1st phase ball.

Well played by the Wallabies in the second half though, gave it a real good shake when Smith was binned, if he'd got a red card I reckon you'd have got us. The yellow was the right call though.

Well done to the All Blacks. Too good, and just a bit too much class at crucial moments. Proud of the Wallabies though, they stuck in there and really made a game of it. Our weakness at the line-out really needs to be fixed. As SM said, it cost us momentum at times and put too much pressure on us when we needed clean ball to get out of our half. Our defence, so good for much of the tournament, was a fair way off the high standards that had been set. Our handling was average too.

That's to take nothing away from NZ: thoroughly deserved World Champions.

Don't know if it was a classic - particularly in the first half when it was very stop-start because the ref seemed whistle-happy - but the second half was more free-flowing. It was definitely a good match for a final though and was pretty exciting up until the end of the game. No one would be complaining about it as a spectacle overall. Definitely worth a watch.

first 30 mins was worth watching. ABs dominant aggression & Wallies solid defense. Basically up until the ref decided he wasn't going to pay attention to anything so the ABs could score a try. 2nd half also worth watching for about 25 mins.

Not looking for excuses.. just wonder how refs can be so terrible in such a critical game like a final in a world cup.
I agree the Wallies lineout is shithouse. Has been the whole tournament. If it was good I reckon they would've won for sure.

The refs were terrible all throughout the finals so why expect any different for the grand final?

Anyway, I didn't watch it as I had to get up early for diving, and then drive 4 hours after that. What were the scrums like?

id say the ABs got the better of the scrum contest, they put in one massive shove that disintegrated the Wallaby scrum and earned a couple of penalties. But overall there weren't a huge number of scrums in the game so it wasn't a decisive factor like the lineouts. They really hurt Aus because once it was clear the Wallaby lineout was shit the NZ kickers just kept either drilling it into touch or kicking deep into the corners and forcing the Aussies to kick out.

Lol you say that ike they were superior in every other facet- the only area Australia really looked better than NZ in in the final was the breakdown and even that wasn't one-sided.

No, i don't. I do think losing a lot of lineouts put a hell of a lot of unnecessary pressure on the Wallabies, which would've changed the game quite a bit.

My point is sore losers with rose tinted glasses who if they used the same excuse for why they lost in the final, could just as easily then say that they shouldn't be in the final or even semi-final at all.
