Where to buy Psy?
Hey guys, i been looking at www.juno.co.uk, just wondering if there were any record shops in the sydney area that sell Psy-trance?

Also, im heaps keen to get my hands on '1200 mics- 1200 micrograms' on vinyl. I know i can't get it from shops, but if anyone has a copy they wouldn't mind parting with, or knows some one, i'd be forever greatful

Cheers

online is the go.
www.chaosunlimited.co.uk
www.psysale.com
www.psyshop.com
www.trance-shop.com
www.saikosounds.com
www.psytrax.com

If buying from a shop in Sydney is your only option, try JB Hifi, Ive bought psy there a couple of times.

ive bought psy vinyl from beatspace.com before. The problem ive found with online psy shops is they dont tend to have samples online so unless you know your artists well its hard to know what to buy.

1200 mics is out of production (on vinyl) as far as I know so you arent going to find it in any stores. Check ebay regularly would be your best bet.

Saiko Sounds has 4 minute samples of most of their stock.

The 1200 mics LP has been out of print since April 2003. Generally, there is not enough demand for psytrance vinyl to have it re-pressed. Get yourself some CDJs. ;-)

for those with no credit card/online buying abilities...

jb hi fi sells some artists like infected mushroom, shpongle, hallucinogen, X Dream, psysex + more and a couple of psy compilation cds. they're usually between the $30-$40 mark. They're really good for importing too.

Utopia records has an even smaller selection.

mmm. its quite good now. well the woden (canberra) store is geting more and more psy all the time. they used to have IM & Halucinagen and some shpongle but things have picked up alot since then. Shame aobut the average price tho. On that note, i picked up some prometheus for $18 a while back. mmm cheap.

i noticed a big difference in stocked lines at the various jb canberra stores. labels and artist all whacked out. i guess its better than every store stocking the same shit...... which is what most stores allready do i guess.

end rant

hey guys, thanks for your help it's been great!!!

ummm, just a bit of info. www.juno.co.uk have a sample mp3 for just about every trac on every album that they sell, the prices are good, and my brother told me yesterday that records work out to be around the $15 mark including postage if you buy 3 or 4 at a time and have them shipped together. He also said he's recieved the vinyl 5 working days after he bought and paid for it.

they have a reasonable selection of psy-vinyl so its worth checking out i'd say anyone else got good/bad stories purchasing from o/s? in particular the UK.

Since some of us are undoubtably poor/don’t have access to buying stuff online/cannot download or find tracks off the net, why don’t we do a little state burning.

Say for instance, there are five people with (lets limit this to say) three different very gewd psytrance cds each. Now you don’t have any of the cd’s that these five people have but would really like them. So what we do is, we ask each person to burn the cds for us. So we get 15 new cds and save ourselves roughly 375 bucks (averaging each cd when brought new at about 25 bucks).

Ok, so because we arent supporting the artist by buying the cd, lets say for each cd that you ask to be burnt you have to chip in $5 for a greater cause. So if you asked for a total of 15cds to be burnt from fellow itmers this would cost you $75. Then with all the money that everyone pools in for the burnt cds we could give it to Lui or Jaimz to put back into a psy event or to go towards the running of things like australiens.net and what not…Even if only 6 of us participated getting the 15 cds we would give back to the psy community nearly 500 bucks…

That way we all get to share the love of music whilst funneling money back into the psy community….

Now you can tear my plan apart..

sounds like a plan messy. but why the small fonts ?

/me downloads some astral projection ringtones (no joke, check their website)

My top 3 stores:

www.saikosounds.com (stock can be a little thin but variety beats the hell out of any australian store, cheap delivery, lots of payment options)

www.wirikuta.at (psytrance distributors and on-line retailer, get some stock other stores don't get in as fast, reasonable prices/delivery)

www.psyshop.com (comprehensive range with plenty of stock, but bit slower delivery and bit more costly)

www.chaosunlimited.co.uk and Beatspace also rate a mention, but neither is that fast or that cheap (although still beats any australian offering by a mile!).

that's true.
HMV Japan, Tower Records, Virgin, etc.
they all had a shelf and listening booths for goa/psytrance.
here's a picture, from a store in Osaka:

i can post a couple of goa/psy ringtones here. they are all around 200KB big, and the size limit for attachments is 100KB.
so, if anyone can show me a site similar to Putfile, MegaUpload, File-swap,.... (without registrations, e-mail submissions, etc.) where i can just post random 250KB files...then i'll put these up.

wouldnt people rather download individual wav files or mp3s of tracks they like instead of buying a whole comp or album when it rare that you will find a entire cd that you like?

is there somewhere you can buy psy mp3s online Raptor?

I like to own the covers. I wouldnt buy a CD just for one track, it would have to have at least 3 good tracks on there for me to buy it.

in general yes for comps. if an artist/group does a whole album though id like to have the whole thing so you get the flow/context.

has anyone got much psy off itunes?

www.psytrax.com is great.... all the cd's are $22.50 or cheaper and you dont need a cred card to buy!! you can direct deposit into their bank account!!

+ everytime i've bought something they throw lots of stickers n the occasion sampler cd in too!

i got sick of paying $35-40 for all the good stuff!

In fact evcery jbhifi store across Australia is now stocked with psy and ambient releases.

Every single Sanity and HMV store will be fully stocked in the next coming months

Only want a couple of tracks from the Unusual Suspects compilations.

Track it down have a kickin' selection of new psy tracks
http://www.trackitdown.net/genre/psy..._releases.html
they also have an extensive archive of older tracks.
The listening interface is cool you can select the tracks that you want to hear and then cue them up in sequence.

indeed... have been strongly considering the "paying to download wave files" sites as there has been so many compilations released in the last year & id be doin well to find 1 track i like...the new koxbox cd however is a very welcome return & every trax a winner

will be sussin out australiens site very soon

Totally agree with comments about Kox Box's new album.

Dont you guys think psyshop and saikosounds have a much wider range of music than any mp3 store?? Lately I've been buying music from all over the place depending on who has it in stock!

Bit of a random thread revival, but I can't be bothered starting a new thread, and it's related anyway

Trying to get my hands on Son Kite's album Colours. I tried psytrax, but it turns out they've sold out. Anyone know of any other places that I can consider? Online or actual stores is fine, provided the actual stores are in the Sydney area.
