every dj i have asked who has said they play "funky"house describes it as house with some bongos, upbeat, breaks(again what the......) and a twist of disco.

I think funky hosue can be described as a driven, melodic bass rhythm with either bongos, vocals percussion as leads. Can also has a latin feel to it, brass or snare drums can be involved but not overly because that would sound very chicago like. I think alot of people get funky house mixed up with vocal house personally. They are similar but obviously vocal house has alot more vocals, and less percussion but still the melodic, driving bass. Anyone agree or disagree?

There is very little humour to miss with gfunk, nft.

The technical description of "funk" is a four-four beat with the emphasis on the first beat of the bar, rather than the usual second and fourth. Very little that is called "funky" falls into this category.

Funk is not emphasis on the first beat, that is 70's g-funk.

Funk is a feelin'. If the music makes you feel like shakin' your booty, grinning like a rapist and gettin' down, then it is funky music.

People who like funky house know what funky house is. Those who don't like it usually are mixing it up with cheesy or even vocal house.

Funky house, to me, is "Austin's Groove", "Salsoul Nugget", "Punk Chic", "Bringing tha Funk", "Soulshaker" or even Picotto's "Like This, Like That".
