www.easynews.com an alternative to p-p and bit torrent downloading

I discovered www.easynews.com through a mate a little while ago and now Im addicted.
Basically the concept is that it allows you to search through newsgroups to download pretty much anything.
It does cost money, but I have found it to be fairly economical if you cant be assed dealing with bit torrents or other p-p applications. It also doesnt seem to have the problem of sources dissapearing as every single download has worked. Of course when my internet connection died everything died, but a decent download manager gets around that problem too.

Speeds are great, especially from my ISP's backbone. You can sign up and try it for 1 month without any obligation to continue. Its US$10 for 20gig, so a movie (700meg or 1400meg) would cost AUD$1-2

It's not directly charging you for downloading anything illegal. You're paying a fee to access the Easynews Usenet server. There are many Usenet providers, in fact most ISP's offer usenet access (but usually they're hopeless with binaries).

What you choose to download from newsgroups is up to you, and no, you won't be tracked down. Usenet isn't like p2p, there isn't really anyone watching (unless you're downloading something really illegal like kiddy porn or something), nothing really enforced when it comes to copyright.

Compare it with Internet access. One could say you're paying a fee to access the internet which hosts illegal/copyrighted downloads. There are legitimate uses for Usenet access as well, and it has been around long before anything else on the internet has been.

I also recommend Astraweb. http://news.astraweb.com Cheap, and you can pre-pay 10gb, etc to use at your leisure
