Bottle Redheads
Any out there?

What's the best semi to use to keep up the colour?

I'm a cool cherry/red at the moment - most on the mkt look coppery or drak burgundy.

Was blonde before that (and am a natural dark brunette) , so yeah, my hair is in just great condition

I remember reading somewhere that the best way to keep the colour is to have your hairdresser use two/three differant semi shades of red.

I used to get 2-3 shades of red and lighter brown in my hair but got sick of it fading after about a week! The Hairdresser told me unfortunately red is the quickest colour to fade despite what you use with colour lock shampoos etc..

I'm back to natural dark brown with only a few highlights around the face and wish I had done it sooner cos it looks so much better than red/blonde highlights on me

I think some redheaded women look great like Nicolle Kidman and when the eyebrows eyelashes aren't red as well and a face full of freckles but red headed men just dont find attractive at all

Really? I use Cedel red/burgundy coloured shampoo and it rocks ! I use semi permanent hair colour every 2-3 weeks and using the coloured shampoo in between colourings really helps......

I use the sunsilk Boosting cream for Redheads, and every two weeks or so a semi. But geez it fades fast. Almost as much trouble as keeping blonde blonde.

Napro - been using it for 15 years (on and off) - I swear by it ! And I leave it in for about an hour - while it reccomends 30-45 mins I find 60 mins gives you a better result.

I've been dying my hair red/burgundy for 10 yrs now :o

I used to get done at the salon then I came across L'Oreal Feria. The funny thing is when I get my hair cut at salons they always comment on how great my hair colour looks. Best hair dye in the market for only $11.50. Bargain!

If you check the pic on my profle thats after 8 wks.

im kinda lucky... i have an ok shade of red naturally. i know it must look ok-ish because i've had the odd person ask where i got my hair colour done  you do get sick of the same colour though. i'm thinking of going a bit darker this winter. burgundy again...

i have had it done that deeper burgundy before, and yes, it fades like anything i can't begin to imagine how difficult it would be to maintain constantly. i tend to get a semi done to go darker and then just do it again if i want to keep the colour longer.

I just went to my chemist - they had a clearance of Wella Soft Colour semi's - I'vre bought two packets of Chilli Red (only $3 each)!

It's very bright, probabaly a little warmer than whats in my hair at the moment, but I think I'll give it go.

Will take the plunge next weekend

She was very blonde when she did it though, so it ended up looking exactly like it did on the box...what colour are you at the moment? If you are darker it won't go like that.

The Chilli will probably do what you want..it was just very orange on my friend..
Another friend uses fudge between dyes and she loves it, it's the only dye that gives that vibrance she likes, fades verry quickly though, but then again they all do.

I'm a natural redhead and I'm lucky because my hair is a really dark, rich red, not ginger. But at the moment it's fushia pink because of my Fudge obsession. If you want the Fudge colours to last, bleach the fuck out of your hair before you use them. Then, set aside a day at home and leave the dye in for eight hours. Not only will the colour last longer and be more vibrant, but it's a great conditioner too!

I've done this with Blue Hawaii (my fave), Blueberry Hill, Pretty Flamingo (my current colour), Purple Haze, and Cherry Bomb.

i did find using the tony and guy shampoo for red hair (has a bit of colour in it) helped prolong the colour a bit tho.

Ok, so I put in the Country Colours "India" Intensive Red in my hair yesterday - its turned out a really nice deep red colour (but I did put in 2 packets and left it in for 45 mins instead of 30) - now the real test - how it washes out.

Well at least there's no tears today - good start!

dodn't touch fudge.. they are not really the best as they wash out too easily EVEN with colour saver shampoo/conditioner and colour masques.

try Loreal Maji-Contrasts. My hairdresser uses them.

I have red and black hair. (err i'm an essendon supporter and footy season is BACK!!!) Get them to bleach and colour. The red stays in quite well and does fade to some degree. Touchups can i guess be done at home if you dond't mind the black but if youa re getting roots done however get someone to do them for you.

i recommend FUSCHIA.. it's a purply red colour. VERY viabrant and HAWT.

I love talking about red hair (believe me its true).

I have naturally dark brown hair and i tried to get it red for years, but every time I came out of the hairdresser it was still brown! and no hairdresser would bleach it first coz they said it was ruin my hair.

I ended up finding Doppelganger Hair at Newtown who do whatever the hell you want to your hair!

I now bleach it and put a semi permanent red on top so its now a really bright red - the brand is callled 'Directions' they have about 20 diffrent colours to choose from. You can get it from Doppelganger or House of Fetish on Oxford St or order it from their website.

I dont think il ever go back to my natural hair colour, red is too much fun!

hmm i went back to red after being blonde for ages... it faded too quickly - with semi's and permanents (and with permanent hair colours the roots showed up more..)

so i went back to blondeish colours again :/ i would have liked to keep it red if it wouldve stayed vibrant... but getting a semi redone every month was going to be too expensive.
