Answers to your questions from my experience with the BCD:

1. Yes, you can plug in 2 TTs into the analogue inputs but only one CDJ (or other line level device) as there is only a single line level input. Really silly design if yo uask me.
2. Behringer, especially their DJ gear, is notoriously sub par in their quality control and general workmanship, and the price reflects this. However, I have had no issues with my BCD thus far...
3. Personally, the BCD as a mixer, using 2 TTs, I find it a bit weird to use as the controls are very close together and I find the EQs roll off really abruptly. Also, its a bit of a pain having to boot up my laptop just to have a quick spin on my decks. But, considering what else you can get for $200 its probably OK to be honest.

I don't think you will regret buying one. Especially considering a piss cheap they are.

Hi Ralph,

First of all, thanks for the informative reply and quick responce hehe

So just to follow up what you jsut said, you can only have external devices such as decks or other devices plugged into the deck if you use the program it comes with?

I was wanting it to be able to hook up to my PC to allow its input and so on, and have it act as a normal mixer which would to connect up two decks. SO basically it would go

PC
.
.
Deck--------BCD--------Deck
.
.
Amp----Speakers

Now you noted about the sound quality and so fourth, i was just wondering is the main purpose of the mixer to play sound through the computer? Or to output sound from its master output to an Amp?

And how would a standalone mixer be better in regards to the BCD mixing the decks and working with my PC? (quality i guess but your the experts hehe)

Cheers,

Jason

Hey Oli, great reply also!

I would most probably get 2 TT's as there would be no need for a CDJ (to me anyway) as the BCD would allow me to mix all my tracks on my pc heheh

So the mixing side in regards to using it with 2 TT's is ok for the normal user? Just not as good/sophisticated as a normal mixer?

And that sucks a bit about the computer, i thought you could use it standalone but ohwell ive still got some time to think about it!

Thanks agian,

Jason

hehe while there is some users/owners online,

Do you both have the sound comming from the computer (i prosume its default is to run sound with the USB back to the computer?)

Or do you both route it to an external source like an amp or hifi setup through the master out?

Cheers,

No probs cruisy.

And pirate I just run a cable straight from the master output of the BCD straight into my speakers, nice and simple. The default software has a big fat record button for easy inbuilt recording.

Cheers Fusion!

If you don't want to run to a hifi/amp setup, can you just leave the audio output from the speakers connected to you pc?

Thanks again!

Yeah I guess, you could use a 2 x RCA to 1 minijack cable and run it from the master out into your mic input if thats what you mean, but if you're using a couple of small PC speakers like I am then its probably easier/better sound to just run the cable straight into the back of those.

Ahhh so you do have to run audio from the mixer via RCA to a source

I thought it may off been able to play from source and just control from the mixer via usb, looks like i am going to have to setup my amp and bookies in my pc room now

^I'm pretty sure you can run the output through your computers soundcard. Go back a page in this thread and check the screen dump towards the end of the page.

Hmmm how could you replace the sound card in the unit with another brand? Its not like its a PCI slot

I guess if you could get it all done for under $500 you would still come out on top

Just trying to get some prices and what not before I buy one.

How much did everyone here pay for their unit and where from? Shipping etc?

For using it at home, the internal soundcard is perfect, anything better would just introduce diminishing returns on my Truths.

If you're thinking about using it in a club installation you need your head read.

Anyone still looking at buying one should check out allans music (if you're in sydney). I just got the nice glossy catalogue in the mail, and they're selling them for $260. If you went instore, you could probably bargain down as well. or hit up www.allansmusic.com.au

... oh if i had the cash

Nothing stopping you, just the sound quality will be sub par compared to other mp3/midi controllers...

I think it would be fine, but be a bit of a bitch as you would need to take it, your lappy, set it all up etc

But it is still alot cheaper then buying say a xone 360 heh

Well, i haven't left the house all weekend after picking up my BCD on thursday. Apparently there's quite a shortage of them (in Melbourne anyway). I had to go to some great lengths to pick mine up, most stores indicated to me that a new shipment won't be arriving till late November.

Anyway back to the unit, i'm loving it, my only complaint would be that it's quite twichty (knobs and faders). Other then that it's a dream to use.

I had it running on Traktor with no problems at all, ableton on the other hand is giving me the shits. When midi mapping the faders and knobs it'll start doing weird sh*t and activate other buttons on the BCD

Any way around fixing this?

You will not become a scratch artist with anything but real decks or maybe top of the line CDJ's. Sorry.

There is no need to break this thing open to change the soundcard. All you need to do is get your own 4out soundcard and your sweet. just select a different device.
(pfft opening BCD and cutting circuit board in half then re-soldering new soundcard to chopped board.)

To anyone using traktor with the device - make sure you hit up the NI forums and get the midi-adaptor program designed to re-calibrate the way the signal is sent to traktor.

Just quick question while this is bumped up;

Can you learn to mix and beat match etc like you would on a normal dj setup (2 decks and a mixer)?

Cheers,

It's quite similar but then again the jogwheel doesn't spin like a record and there is a different feel i'd say. But i don't think you'd have alot of trouble making the transition between bcd and decks. Of course practice makes perfect...

Hey BCD owners,

I was just wondering if anyone would be able to get a video of them mixing it up on their bcd?

That would be pretty sweet if one of you could (I don't care if your shit, I just want to see some guy or girl having fun etc)

Cheers!

I thought I bump this thread up to save creating a new thread hehe

I have (finally) got around to playing with Ableton, and I was wondering is it easy to assign functions/buttons/knobs/faders etc on the BCD to functions in Ableton like i would with my keyboard?

Cheers!

Ahh found it

Edit: using an old copy as cannot afford 6 yet, so just playing around with 5

So I take from the pdf that the BCD would work fine with assigning things in ableton then?

Love my BCD2000
Using it mainly with NI's traktor 3.

I got the Jog wheels going with traktor

Had a little trouble with the sound quality in b-dj to start off with, turned out to be my wireless lan driver on my laptop and nothing to do with the BCD2000, uninstalled the Wireless lan driver, problem went away.

Other than that couldnt be happier with it.

For anyone else experiencing problems with sound, go here

For anyone with problems with jog wheels in traktor, go here

Just wondering, I fuck around with Traktor a fair bit and my brand new 2 channel soundcard (not happy about that fuckup) means I'm pretty limited. Would it be worth buying one of these, or spending money on a proper DJ mixer to interface with Traktor?
