Eric Prydz
Im not sure if this is old news by now or not.. but I just heard two of his new tracks on his recent Radio 1 Essential Selection Hotmix - courtesy of LL - and i have to say they are both f*cking HOT!

1. Pryda - Shadows
2. Pryda - I Can't Remember

I expect that these tunes will be HUUUGE over the summer. Everything he touches is turning to gold at the moment! He had undoubtedly the track of the year last year with Aftermath, he also had my personal favorite song EVER - The Gift - as well as the hugely popular 321 which was a collaboration with Axwell. He has had another bunch of successful tracks this year including Seadweller, Turn Out and Sucker DJ - all of which have been well received. However i think the two tracks above will be two more smashes for the Scandanavian wizard.

And also on that mix is the already famous Prydz remix of the sublime 1983 by paolo mojo, and Prydz' remix of the Pink Flloyd classic, Proper Education - both wicked tracks as well.

Is there anything EP cant do?

He's alright...he's still got A LOT to answer for for unleashing that fucking Call On Me on the world though.
Pete Gordon - Deep and Low

Slower tempo but still with balls, deephouse, slow-mo, futurehouse, nudeep, indie, nudisco, hints of progressive, whatever the fuck you want to call it, just good shit! Get on it

na, he is awsome. if he got the money from call on me to unleash his other gear on the world, then im all for it.

sure, it can go to cheese quite quickly, but there is something about his productions and remixes that still stand out from the swed house producers
hang on a minute, im on the potty doing poo

^ Exactly...

All of his shit that has been released recently pushes the button of most dancefloors.
Gotta give him credit for that.

Besides the amount of notoriety that call on me recieved was due to it being stolen from him and then being pressed up into white lables as bangalter mashup ala so much love to give...
The tune nearly did not released because of this, as the owners of the IP were not all that keen on releasing the sample rights to him after the appearance of the whitelable.
and we all know the rest of the story.

IMO, a producer should not be judged on one piece rather than the sum total of his works to date. As far as his works to date, then he is teh awesomness....

Edit: Besides all this you would be surprised to see who " insert big name underground producer here " has produced/ remixed, songs/ albums for " insert big name commercial recording artist here " through out their careers. Theres fuck all money in underground music, these guys have bills to pay as well as sitting in their crystal palace studios cranking out the hawtness for us all to enjoy.

I just find it disappointing so many people say they "love" Eric Prydz because of Call On Me, then you play them like Knockout, Aftermath, 321, anything like that and they either think it's not by him, or that it sucks

But yes, I definitely rate Prydz as one of the best Swedish producers out there, definitely better than Axwell or Angello, but Ingrosso, Beyer and Dahlback are all on par with him I reckon.

Nile is probably my fav one of his, and The Gift, both seem so over looked/underplayed because of the "anthem" that's on the flip side. Sucker DJ pales in comparrison to Nile, as does Aftermath compared to The Gift.

Anyone know if Aftermath has ever received a Breaks bootlegging treatment?

Prydz is awesome. But I really don't think we need another 'massive' electro-prog tune.

In a recent interview (on progressive-sounds.com) Digweed commented that Prydz is a good DJ. If Diggers is endorsing him then this is good enough for me.

saw him @ SW4 last year, just before Aftermath blew out, and he was spot on imo, played 90% his, Angello, Axwell, Ingrosso material, altho a festival set prob aint the best reflection. Has played The Cross as well, with good reviews as well.

I fing both Angello and Ingrosso to be a bit hit and miss. The good news is that when they're good, they're really good (together or alone).

I think releasing Call On Me was one of the most brilliant moves ive ever seen any dance DJ/producer make! My respect for him actually increased after that track.

Of course he knew that track was cheesier than a triple cheese cheese crust pizza from dominos, but he also knew it would make him MILLIONS which im sure it did

No point being a respected underground producer if you are poor. If i were him i wouldnt have thought twice about doing it. He has only released one track like that, he made millions (which probably gave him the time and money to make the bombs we now enjoy) and is admired by 16 year old girls all over the world.. what a legend!

if call on me wasnt so popular...would you still call it cheesy...

out of all those guys (prdyz, angello, ingrosso & axwell) i prolly like 30% of their production and considering there is so much of it out then that is still alot...usually like the more techier stuff ie euro...and whatever the fuck else they have put out...

cant say i really like when they play alot of their stuff one after the other and its real 'electro' sort of stuff...

And THAT sir.. is a question for the ages.

Does popularity = cheese? I say no.. but i know a lot of people who hate anything popular.

I think though for call on me.. it would still be cheese. The 80's vocal rip off is a hallmark of great cheese.

I heard Deep Dish drop Aftermath last year in Cavo Paradiso on Mykonos and I have never seen a club more on edge trying to get through that 3 minute breakdown with the kick ass looping arpeggio only to go completely apeshit when the beat kicks back in - just amazing. His big tracks are just outrageous

Same again this year when Hernan played his remix of 1983 - he just has this knack of constructing club tunes that send people wild.

Dropped Prydz remix of 1983 at Fresh FM party which was meant to be a cheesefest. Watching several hundred Adelaide clubbers go absolutely mental to it almost brought a tear to my eye.

i reckon his productions are definitely perfect for a club dancefloor setting.

for some reason though i think they don't belong on mix cd's as they are quite samey and you can get a bit sick of them too quickly.

All quite samey? Don't agree with that at all.
Re-Match samey as Aftermath? Hell no.
Gift samey as Nile? Hell no.
Flipside to Re-match is like 135+BPM storming techno whereas Re-Match is quite slow plodding electro-filth.
Then there's Human Behaviour which is very hypnotic and proggy backed with Lesson One which is really quite housey.

Pete Gordon - Deep and Low

Slower tempo but still with balls, deephouse, slow-mo, futurehouse, nudeep, indie, nudisco, hints of progressive, whatever the fuck you want to call it, just good shit! Get on it

I'd say he was having an off night, every set I have of his is tight as a nun's nasty. Though also Howells, Diggers and Wink are just that damn good maybe he looks crap in comparison
