I thought id bring up this thread to lets yaz know i had a hands on go of the S3500 and the vestax CDX-05.
Dj dekay and bracko you can kick my ass for saying that "personally i reckon the CDX's have the best torque and the best feel". They may have the best torque but they certainly are as Dj oldfart said, a piece of shit. Went up to Dj warehouse for a few hours and tried out a few things and had a go of the S3500's and the vestax CDX-05. I gotta say the older denon models wer'nt to crash hot but the S3500 kicked ass for platter resistance. The amount of pressure you could apply and the resistance the platter could withstand was great for beat matching. Could'nt beat it, i would throw my CDX's away in a second. I wish spank had them in and i knew about the denon S3500 when i bought my CDX. Would have been a winner.
I should'nt have commented in the first place, it was just really a biased unknowledged opinion.
The vestax's were sweet. Must have been a knew model i dont know, the CDX-05 i tried in spank skipped when i gave them a failry large bump, the one's i tried in dj warehouse were great. I half dropped it a couple of times and it was fine. Absolutely not one skipp. Not a fan of the jog dial but thats what the tascam is for of course. The tascam and CDX-05 would definelty be a great substitue of a vinyl replication.
All in all i would say the denon is one of the best CD/TTs, didnt try the tascam with anything but i say that would be a pretty sweet combination, for replicating a real vinyl feel. Which is what you want on a whole.

Ill be giving my CDX's the boot in the near future after todays episode.

^Cool,

Honestly there is not heaps of difference, compared to the older denons the CDX is luxury, but that slight difference is so much more comforting and less stressful when you have to beat match. With the CDX there is always a slight worry that you may catch it too hard on the rail and the platter grabs and as a result the beat is thrown more out of time. The platter seems to hold stronger on the denon, but does'nt have that much pull that you have too use two hands to slow it down, you can still use a decent amount of force and the platter wont grab. Denon got it spot on i reckon.

Oh yeah also got some BX5a's. Wicked little speaker.

0.1 for 10% and all others.

gee what a surprise, someone who reviews DJ gear know's more than a n00b that went to one store and bought the first thing he saw.... but i guess it took balls to admitt it, I'll pay that.

Yup the cdx's were a great idea and do have some cool features. It is just a shame that the price tag they put on them doesn't match the quality and user feel. Maybe one day they will get it right and they will be the best. As for the tascam well I couldn't say as I have no experience with them. Kinda seems like it would be a lot of fucking around and they are only compatible with the tascam cd players which are utter rubbish.....Only one solution to the feel of vinyl unfortunately and that is only use vinyl!.....Might be openeing up a can of worms here but vinyl is on it's last legs I think.....when u look at how many top dj's are using mainly cd's carl cox/roger sanchez/john course....yes I do coursey to be a top dj.........then the demise of vinyl is imminant. There used to be a time when these guys and many others swore that nothing could replace their beloved vinyl...but now the tide has turned, you either go with it or be left behind. :p

Hey brako, i finally am getting around to writing reviews on a couple of pieces of gear including the CDJ1000Mk3, but who was i supposed to talk to about being a contributer?!

>dj oldfart. Agree, the people who are still 100% that thier precious vinyl will last forever, are hanging onto something that is going to be a use that is not needed anymore. Maybe good for those that have a thing for vinyl or treat it as a hobby, but that is only material, not about the music. The versatility, qualty and availabilty of digital is what keeps it a winner for myself. Slight issue with vinyl being purely analogue but a small loss in quality is not a big drama, especially as you can just jump onto the internet and you've got your own speakers and a choice of over 50 digital download sites rite there in front of you.

..and that is where i will stop before world war 3 starts and subject matter changes.

Radic> cant notice the difference with serato.

brack>Nice. 0.01. Denon did get it rite on.
Yeah it did take some courage, but i thought i owed it to yaz seeing as i previously said some things that wer'nt of complete factual information. I thought the situation deserved some redefining and my opinions stated with more fact.

Owed it to yaz.

Now i want the denons!!

You wouldn't believe how long it took me to get through this thread-I kept reading bits and then feeling ill and putting it off till hours later...but OMG going from forcing myself to bother reading all the way to the end of page 2 and then finding the last tiny iota of hope in the thread's original topic being somehow refered to on page 3 was so worth it....it was...simply beauiful man...simply beautiful...that resolution was such Internerd gold...

It was like a comedown party when someone's lost they're stash and they start getting paranoid and then bad vibes start spreading like wildfire and then suddenly the find the stash in their wristband and everyone hugs....

Unfortunately no mention of exactly all the models that I'm looking at but at least I can rule out the CDX now...
