Purchasing first dj setup
Hi,

I'm looking to buy my first dj'ing setup. I will only need 2 channels on my mixer for the cdj's so have read the djm400 will do a great job. Are they any major advantages (i don't need 4 channels...) of opting for a djm600 instead?

This is what im looking at:

2 x Pioneer CDJ-800's (ppl have said on here you can get them for ~$850 eavh from JB)
Pioneer DJM-400 ( $845 is what i've found online )

What price have other's bought the djm400 for? What price can i expect to bargain it down to?

Thanks in advance

I read on here that ppl have bought them brand new from JB for as low as $850. Thats after you've gone around/called up a lot of other places first to get the best deal.

What prices have ppl gotten on the djm400?

wulvo,

i think youll find that alot of people are selling thier 800mk1s due to the mk2 now

i forget the difference between the two right now

you can get 800mk1s, a pair, for $1500 if you look

alternatively my friend (ml2009) on buying and selling forum is selling two technincs 1200s and a numark mixer for $800 cash

you can't get the mk2 for $850. that was the final price for the mk1.

kudos for searching though.

I reckon the DJM 400 is completely over kill for a newby...that's some serious amounts of bells and whistles you simply don't need when learning to beat match. It just confuses the issue.

Big extra expense if it turns out your don't like/aren't good at DJing and give up soon after.

When all you're going to be playing on is some home stereo/mini system, you don't need a high end quality mixer.

The mixer, imo, is something you can skimp on when you're first getting into it and upgrade at a later date...your decks, whether vinyl or CDJ, aren't and neither should be your headphones.

Slower tempo but still with balls, deephouse, slow-mo, futurehouse, nudeep, indie, nudisco, hints of progressive, whatever the fuck you want to call it, just good shit! Get on it
