Nope, just the regular seasons with a cardboard box around em.
Sif the hipsters working at jb wouldn't nick the yellow tops to sell so they can buy some more flannel shirts and skinny jeans

Due to Sydney's fantastic summer weather yesterday, headed to my local DVD place and grabbed The Corner. Realised by the 3rd episode I had seen it before, but for the life of me can't remember where or when.

Unlike The Wire, only delves into the lives of the people. So raw, gritty, based on real characters (end of the last episode they interview 4 of characters portrayed).

As mentioned earlier interesting to see a lot of Wire actors in this, all massive dope fiends.

and if you liked the wire, go back to where it all began Homicide: Life on the Streets. Which was always my favourite tv show of all time until the wire came along and now its my equal favourite show of all time.

Homicide was awesome, but the Wire is on a different level.

The shows are relative to their time, The Wire is an obvious evolution on what Homicide started and they had the smarts to avoid network television, a choice not around when Homicide aired. The biggest crime was the last couple of Homicide that saw it trying to become NYPD Blue. The Wire got better and better and finished on top, whilst Homicide went 2 seasons too long. The Adena Watson case was pretty freakin awesome though.

Anyway I have the boxed set of Homicide on order so shall see if my memories serves me correctly.

My brother has been telling me for years that I have to watch this show, that nothing else compares to it. Finally getting around to now, I am nearly through the first season and it is definitely living up to the hype. The dialogue in this show is brilliant.

Love this...

Did anyone notice in Series 5 episode 7

Spoiler:
"Richard Belzer makes an appearance as Detective John Munch, a detective in Baltimore-set Homicide: Life on the Street, and subsequently in Law & Order: SVU. Clark Johnson's character, Augustus Haynes, walks into a bar to speak with Major Dennis Mello, played by Jay Landsman, upon whom the character John Munch was based (from David Simon's book, Homicide: A Year on the Killing Streets). On Homicide, Johnson's character Meldrick Lewis owned a Baltimore bar with John Munch. As Haynes walks past him, Munch can be heard telling the bartender that he once owned a bar.Munch's appearance suggests that The Wire takes place in the Tommy Westphall universe."

And of course Jay Landsman is one of the detectives in The Wire.

OK I lifted that from WIki but something about the actor who appeared as Dennis Mello rang a bell so looked into it.

It's what I did...

Sopranos first 2 seasons are absolutely brilliant... Season 3 & 4 aren't so great but picks right up again for the final 2.

IMO season 3 & 4 are the only reason Sops doesn't beat Wire for best show ever. The Wire is awesome every season.

Have to let yourself down gradually from The Wire, going cold-turkey back into normal tv is worse than AIDS.

The Guardian devoted a whole article to what you should watch after the Wire. They settled on Battlestar Galactica and I cancelled my subscription.

The only Guardian journo worth reading is Charlie Brooker. Possibly obviously.

Same here. But think that what makes The Wire a cut above. You want blaze of glory but you get more reality.

one of the best dialogues was the opening scene of epsiode 1 :

Suspect: I’m sayin’, every Friday night in an alley behind the Cut Rate, we rollin’ bones, you know? I mean all them boys, we roll til late.
McNulty: Alley crap game, right?
Suspect: Like every time, Snot, he’d fade a few shooters, play it out til the pot’s deep. Snatch and run.
McNulty: What, every time?
Suspect: Couldn’t help hisself.
McNulty: Let me understand. Every Friday night, you and your boys are shootin’ craps, right? And every Friday night, your pal Snot Boogie… he’d wait til there’s cash on the ground and he’d grab it and run away? You let him do that?
Suspect: We’d catch him and beat his ass but ain’t nobody ever go past that.
McNulty: I’ve gotta ask you: if every time Snot Boogie would grab the money and run away… why’d you even let him in the game?
Suspect: What?
McNulty: Well, if every time, Snot Boogie stole the money, why’d you let him play?
Suspect: Got to. It’s America, man.
