Anyone played with a Tascam TT-M1
i'm wondering how these little beasties perform.

Can't say i've heard great things about Tascam CDJs ... but if this gadget does what they claim it does ... i'd love cue and mixing CDs using this method.

So anyone used this thing or heard much about its performance ?!

you gotta realise all it does is encode the movement from the wheel into midi data - its a pretty simple process and works fine. however the mechanical connection to the record is a somewhat imperfect thing.

they're really meant as a way to scratch from a sampler/computer etc but retain the hands on feel of the turntable - and yes it works well - i don't know anyone who uses them to mix with though - there's no tracking or timecode stuff.

basically a rotary encoder attached to a rubber wheel.

well that's rather much what i was assuming it would do.

just for cueing CDs i'd be more comfrotable with using this thing ... not after tracking or timecodes ...

but what about Tascam CDJs this has to be used with 'em . .. so im wondering if they stack up ... note: i don't want whistles and bells

i own one of these and a vestax CDX 05.

i really like the setup. there's a slight software problem with cuing the start of the track, but if you insert a 2sec silence before every track that eliminates that issue (although it's more a CDX problem)

there's nothing that pisses me off about the TTM at all, the only problem i have is with the CD player and these are VERY minor. i would carefully test the CD player unit first though.
step on my cubes.
