True ... how do we know a 1/3 of that collection isn't copies of the Grease soundtrack and Kahmal's greatest hits?!

Traktor Pro 2
Focusrite Scarlett 8i6
Denon DNSC2000
Denon DNSH5500
Numark DXM09
2 X 1200'S
M Audio BX5A's

The old Numark has seen better days so that will be retired to the bin soon, I'm going to get a Denon DX1600 mixer so I wont need the soundcard and I can retire the Denon 5500 and bring out the second 2000 controller that I have.

My Music room also doubles as a lounge room, there's a tonne of shit on the other side of the decks, but I'll take photos of that some other time.

edit: should probably list what I have...

2 X Technics 1200 MK2 from the land before time, w/ pitch fader click & pop up light mods
2 X Ortofon DJ E cart/stylus
2 X Black Ice Slipmats
1 X Denon DN-X1600 Mixer
1 X MBP running Traktor (not shown)
2 X Random Speakers friend found on side of road
2 X Random Technics speakers from a Quadraphonic setup purchased at a garage sale
1 X Behringer Mini-Mon
2 X Yamaha 8" monitors (faced the other way, generally just used for production but can be spun around for dj'ing)

That's about it, I have a Maschine as well which I've (painstakingly, operation 'No Touch Computer') mapped for traktor use but I'm a little afraid of it so it doesn't get used too much yet.

Not sure if everyone is already aware of this or not, but ikea hack is here http://www.djtechtools.com/2011/10/1...om-ikea-parts/

And the thread that started it all - http://www.djtechtools.com/2011/10/1...om-ikea-parts/

Thinking about trying to do something similar with just a single expedit, but they aren't meant to be very stable with a second level since it's not real wood

I did mine with a single expedit, it's stable if its up against a wall, I'm not sure I'd trust it without a wall behind it though. That said there are plenty of ways it could be strengthened if I spent the time, I'm just not much of a handyman

Quikloks, me thinks, just seeing a 'Q' on the left hand one, they look like the same ones I got from Store DJ (no Quiklok ones personall)...they're not quite high enough for DJing with, but close enough it's not an issue

https://www.storedj.com.au/products/ULT-JAM-MS70

Good for the price, could do with an extra 15cm height though to be honest

Yep, Random_Kiwi got it in one. Quikloks..

I have them sitting on above the highest setting (I have a pin resting underneath the adjustable pole rather than a pin through both poles - kinda hard to explain).

That is the reason why they are leaning a bit .

I am 6'2' by the way..

^ arrr, hadn't thought of doing that...though I think mine a screw in numbers, not pins...couple of old phone books under the speakers does the trick, though it looks a little rangi

Yeah just looked em up, not much over a 1m, probably a little too short I just noticed you don't have the legs on your expedit either so it made them look bigger.

I've got my speakers mounted on bricks on the actual desk, it's a bit of a prick cause they hog a lotta space (I got Event BAS20/20s)

Shyboy, how have you attached the lack tv unit to the expedit? And what have you used to hold the wall shelf up?

Might do an exact copy of yours, but in black...

Edit: And with wheels for easy movement

I just drilled some holes into the top of the Expedit and used some dowels and glue to secure the TV unit top.

The wall shelf is attached to the TV unit with the Capita angled legs.

As mentioned, I am 6"2 so with the Lack TV unit top - it is the perfect height.

Also, the Lack TV top gives you more surface area, the over hang works well because your feet park nicely underneath making it 'ergonomic'...

Let me know if you need any other info

I wasn't sure how great it would've been, but i had been considering attaching a table top for the bigger surface area. This seems much better.

I'm 6"1', so maybe I'll give the wheels a miss. Thanks man, will post results when I've got around to putting it together

The Lack TV unit table top was perfect for me as it served 2 purposes:

- Brings the table up to the ideal height and the over hang works surprisingly well
- Gives me space underneath to store my amp

I am really happy with the outcome.

Thanks man They're not monitors, just speakers I built out of boredom/lack of money haha. Using speakers from Jaycar. 120 watts rms per side, powering off a Sansui TA300 plus an active 10" sub on the floor

Honestly?

Two different decks. I couldn't truthfully say that 1200s are better than the ST-150s from a functional standpoint.

It may be a placebo effect, but I feel my tunes sound brighter and better than through the Stantons. It could be that even going through phono it's still hitting a DAC, as the decks have keylock (which I never actually used).

I hit the jackpot with these two pairs, but anyone getting into turntables asking for advice? Better a new set of ST(R8)-150s than secondhand 1200s of an unknown origin.

One of the things that irked me about the Stantons was a lack of a suitable dust-repelling solution.

Well:

And for anyone with an Empath, turns out DeckSaver's unit for the TTM-56/57SL is compatible:

Why I didn't think to check and compare the dimensions of the top plate before, I don't know.

Just finished some renovations at my place.

Decided to upgrade the DJ set up.

Old

New

Not hooked up yet as I just laid it out.

Decided to use Ikea kitchen as a little office/dj area.

Looked at expedit products, just thought this looked neater and tidier.

Able to store all my records and turntables away and it all looks nice and neat.

Have you seen these? They look pretty sweet and have torque adjust so you can dial in the feel that you like. Looks like the best alternative to the 1200's yet.

I'm still a sucker for the look of 1200/1210's though. everything looks so balanced and clean cut on them compared to the others and spare parts/maintenance seems allot easier .

Yeah. Little difference to the Stanton/Sync/American Audio/Audio Technica/Citronic/Akiyama that came before it, which also use Hanpin's Super OEM design.

The 8000 will be interesting - especially the daisy-chaining - but even using REL in DVS, don't know why they didn't opt for the straight-arm to reduce skipping seeing as users will now likely start drumming on their decks. Unsure how many of these they'll move at around $900 a piece.

A question for the expedit owners (4x2 version). Are they long enough to put 2 x 1200's (battle or standard), 2 x 1000mk3's and a slim mixer on? Currently I'm using the Nuo 3 (160mm wide) and am unlikely to upgrade that anytime soon.

The measurements seem to line up (just) but looking at photos online makes me unsure as most peeps seem to have the cdjs mounted on stands.

Depends if you have the top shelf addition, the legs get in the way. I reckon you'd need to have them in battle to fit both and the CDJs, I know I struggled to fit 3 with a 4 channel mixer a while back.

I wasn't planning on putting a 2nd level on it. Though I did come across this over the weekend, it looks pretty easy to do for about $200ish
