I figure I should join in... It's been a while since I've posted a picture of the setup (in fact I don't think I ever have on itm)...

Alrighty:
st.150's
CDJ-1000mk3's
Denon DNX-1500
EFX-1000
HD-25 Cans
Edirol PCR-300
Dell Adamo Lappy
Spacetek Stands
Whise 6080 Monitors & Tapco sub (under the table)

There's also the shitty old amp with hi-fi speaker, It's still sounds quite good but is no longer required, the truth is I've had it since the start and don't want to part with it

Bear pictured in both the on and off modes, I also straightened up his hat for the second photo

Yeah totally dig em, really rock solid build and made from a very solid steel frame, they don't go anywhere once tightened up.

For those interested, got the CDJ ones ages ago online from an ebay seller in Australia, brought the middle one for the laptop only a few months ago and ended up ordering directly from spacetek due to the lack of anyone in Australia selling the clamp stands anymore... Warning though, quite expensive, but if you're after an order I just emailed - info@spacetek.net you will get Ben on the other end, really nice guy.

setup
Great Thread! There are some mad set-ups on here! Mine is pretty basic in comparison but its a work in progress....this started life as 2 x 1200's, a DJM300, some rubbish speakers and an old ikea table...

The set-up now consists of:

1 x Pioneer DJM-909
1 x Technics 1200 MK2 (seen better days but still hasn't missed a beat!)
1 x Technics 1210 M3D
1 x Pioneer CDJ1000 Mk3
1 x Pair Yamaha HS80M Studio Monitors

The walls are lined with acoustic panels so i don't drive the neighbors crazy (im in an apartment) and they are also under certain areas of the desk, I had the desk custom built for this room and it is basically a perfect "U-shape", and this setup is on one side of the U...if that makes sense

I designed a cable tray that i wanted to have built into the desk but when i explained it to the carpenter he looked at me like i was from another planet, i wasn't confident he understood, but when it arrived it was spot on!! Its basically a 90x90mm channel that runs around the whole outside of the table.....I have tried to show the result in shots below.......The next step is to get it ready for Ableton and actually starts tomorrow when the new Ecler Evo 5 arrives (Yes the 909 will be for sale ) and with that comes a couple of stands to get the monitors and the CDJ lifted off the desk! Sorry bout the Fisheye effect in these shots, it was the only lens wide enough to get a decent shot

Replacing an awesome mixer with another awesome mixer...nice Have to let us when you put the 909 up for sale...been chasing one of those. I like the fish-eye lens...certainly better than the blurry camera phone shot

Thanks Tony, its a work in progress

Ether - They are fantastic! I would definitely recommend them, i was so close to buying a cheaper set but i also use them for listening to other styles of music and as soon as I heard a few different genre's on each set side by side it was a no brainer.......best decision i have made!

Timski if that mixer was a xone3D I'd seriously consider murdering you for your setup. At this stage however I am prepared to do anything you ask me for it....ANYTHING.

... hummmmm anything you say...

hehe, Anyway pretty much one of the the only reasons I didn't upgrade to a xone3d or another mixer was due to the any input on any channel matrix on the x1500, I use it too much for all manner of shenanigans to want to get used to another mixer without it... I just really wish more companies would consider putting it on there mixers, I haven't found too many others that do this... I guess it's only trivial, but I do like the flexibility.

this is my setup i love it, its pretty simple. i have to buy speaker stands to complete it all, so then i can put my other turntable onto the desk.
we live in a flat so we never turn the speakers up loud, so it doesn't interfere with my turntable's tonearm.
i've worked hard to buy this setup so i love it very much, hahaha

thanks Dr Bones! the 'keep it simple' theory is pretty important to me. a lot of people say i should buy a DJM 600/800 or CDJ1000's, but i dont see the point; i can use all of those really well in clubs, i dont need one at home (nor do i wanna fork out the $$$$ for them)

loopi,

How do you rate the 400's against 1000's?

I got a pair of 800's and love em, but only thing I wouldn't mind having is the +/- 6% pitch option.

they're a really good simulation of the 1000's to be honest. the jog wheel is the only major difference; with its compact size comes different sensitivity with your adjustments. the 1000's jog wheel has the ability to be more or less responsive to your touches because of the braking/release knobs. the 1000's are so accurate when it comes to pitch control too. so when you're correcting a mix, you might need to spin the jog wheel a little harder or softer (depending on your settings) than you would with a 400.

on the 400's, the jog wheel is very responsive but its not over the top or oversensitive, and you easily learn how much you need to touch it if you're making adjustments during a mix. once you know your jog wheel, you can apply the same technique every time without much inconsistency. like, if you compare them to a cdj100, they're pretty much polar opposites.

you dont get the braking/release controls but the varying pitch % options are a handy feature. i really enjoy using them!!

its sooo easy to adapt from using the 400 to the 1000's, i love both models! i dont know if i'd buy 1000's if i had the money to; i like the compactness of the 400's, the quick fx (lol) and the usb capabilities.

which model are you leaning towards?

^^Agreed.

Going from my decks to any other set of decks i would need to get used to the different jog wheel sensitivity, but with the 1000's adjustable jog, this would make the transition much easier.

Ideally 1000's would be super, but with their RRP pushing $1900-$2000 each these days, and me being a broke ass uni student, not too sure. Inflation sucks ass.

Might have to hang off for the moment, until some little DJ wannabe gets sick of his 2xCDJ1000's & DJM800 and pick em up second hand for a bargain

inflation does suck hopefully you get what you're after eventually. keep your eye on JB sales, i was VERY lucky; i walked into the JBHifi in Geelong, and they had ticketed the CDJ-400's as CDJ-200's, so I ended up taking 2 units for $1200
the salesman tried to say that it was below cost price and that he couldn't give them to me, but i work in retail as well, and I know the rules about honouring advertised prices
