Last time I was in Melbourne visiting totobear I wandered out to a little place in St Kilda which had brilliant coffee and the best eggs benedict I've had in along time.

Here are a few I like:

Snow Pony - Whitehorse rd Balwyn
Liar Liar - Glenferrie (though the staff are rude, their ricotta hotcakes are the business)
APTE (a place to eat) - Heidelberg Rd, Alphington

the cafe up the road at Hermon and Hermon is better, cheaper and the people are not wankers. the bf and i used to work there. get the egg and bacon foccacia, the muesli or the spicy bacon and fetta foccacia is the BEST!!!!!!

also The Green Refectory is a winner for breakfast. they are on Sydney road. The breakfast stack is omg so damn tasty.

also rusty duck in moonee ponds is very tasty too, and Made in Flemington just opposite Newmarket station also deliver the tasty breakfast goods. The banana bread with honey, pistachios and banana is great.

a lot of people from channel 9 go there. if you are there between 9 and 10 there will be some c-d grade celebrity. most of them are pretty nice.

like i said the food there is pretty damn good and well priced. fuck paying $16-$18 for banana bread from friends of mine when you can get cheaper and better food from hermon and hermon.

Bump!

Can anyone recommend a good place at the top of Bourke St (Paris end) ?

Looking for somewhere that is open on Sunday morning.

Have urban spooned it and found a few places but not sure if there's something I haven't found.

Here are the options so far:

Welcome Stranger (ummmmmm 24 hour pub maybe not)
Locanda Italian Steakhouse (restaurant at the Rydges Hotel)
The Mess Hall
European

If anyone can recommend either of those or a different place in the same area, please do

There's something off about this place, I just can't get into it...I love their pastries and cakes and muffins and what not, but their actual brunch menu is shit imo...yes, even the breakfast stack...sound OK, has been average as fuck the two times I've had it...plus the ricketty chairs/tables, the "super cool" hipster wanker staff, the God fucking awful state of their one tiny little bathroom out the back of the building. Can for the life of me figure why this place is so popular!

Take away coffee and a sweet treat any day, but nothing else for me thanks

Tom Phat smokes it for brunch...though friends went a couple of weeks ago and it's changed hands and was no where near as good...

Dutchess of Spotswood does the best breakfast I've had in Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne. This was Queen of the Dam. Fresh yabbies with salmon roe in scrambled eggs. OMG so good.

I really liked Pint of Milk too. I've attempted to replicate one of their dishes at home. It basically consisted of spicy tomato chickpeas, poached eggs, wilted spinach and labneh with sumac. So yummy. This was my slightly altered version below.

Just went to Tyranny of Distance on Chapel Street for breakfast and really enjoyed it. I quite like the semi-outdoor atmosphere on a warm autumn morning. It wasn't too packed at 10am, not sure if that was due to the fact everyone was recovering from St. Patty's Day.

Breakfast stack was delicious and the other half had the chili scrambled eggs with housemade flatbread.

Next time youre in the area try Crowded house in ferguson street, it does an excellent baked eggs dish. Also have a soft spot for the crispy panchetta stack + hollandaise sauce at the pickle barrel just up the road .

Went to the duchess once, didn't grab me but I might give it another go.

hobba on malvern road in south yarra/prahran

simply must try the poached eggs. they slow poach them at something like 62 degrees. what you get is a poached egg, but the white is still clear. freaks some people out but tastes amazing.

the venue is awesome too. used to be an old tyre shop i believe, so it has that workshop feel about it.

^ Sous Vide eggs...Cummulus Inc does them, '65/65 eggs' - 65 degree water in shell for 65mins...crack shell and tip their weird kinda ooky egg out...pretty tasty!

Recent addition to West Brusnwick, John Gorilla, is fucking mean! It's a lil on the pricey side, but so damn good, kaiserfleisch an savoy cabbage hash, smoked trout omlette with horseradish crème fraîche

man i miss Melbourne breakfasts

every good place i've been to here in London has been run by people from Melbourne

Yellowbird (if im hankering for a good steak sambo) & Dukes (candied bacon with the poached eggs n avocado hommus) on chapel were always my favs. tyranny of distance is pretty good too.

northside: Arcadia (THE best bacon & egg roll in melb imo)
