Post a Picture of your Meal
Pretty simple really...

Post photos of food you have stuffed in your gob
so either stuff you've made yourself (which if you have - please include the recipe)
or otherwise please include a review of what/where you were
please keep it food related
kthx ^__^

to start

dill mushroom & caramelised onion quiche

recipe:
grease baking tin
we cheat and use premade shortcrust pastry
sprinkle bottom of base with a fair amount of grated cheese
cook onion for about 25 minutes in a little extra virgin olive oil for about 25-30 minutes until it turns mushy.
Cook mushrooms with a little fresh dill in butter
mix 2 eggs and 2/3 cup milk in a bowl
pour egg/milk mix over
bake in a preheated oven @ 200 celcius for about 20-30 minutes
serve with salad or pasta

&
my potato salad

Boil potatoes until still firm (i use washed potatoes)
cool
cook peas
cool
boil eggs
cool
(there's a lot of cooling)
chop one small brown onion
a couple of stalks of celery
a handfull of dill
chop eggs
mix with a couple of tablespoons of whole egg mayonaise

this is seriously delicious - not quite low-fat
but it is delicious

I haven't given any quantities as I think stuff like potato salad is all very much to personal taste

thanks to Krafty & DollBaby for the idea
i take photos

Ok. Got some pics although I forgot to photograph the best and most time consuming escapade of the weekend which was my roast pork with apple sauce and gravy and crackling BUT...

Here's tofu and vege peanut stirfry

Scrambled eggs with smoked salmon and fresh dill from the garden which we grew from seed.

Pea and ham soup but instead of ham hocks we used smoked pork ribs and it was oh so good.

my soup

ok so basically:
grab the biggest pot you have
chop an onion and a leek
throw in a splash of olive into the pan
add some garlic
fry the onion & leek until soft
add 2 tins of chopped tomatoes
add some stock
add vegies (this is entirely your choice)
here I have
pumpkin (roasted & non-roasted)
potato (roasted & non-roasted)
celery (with leaves)
a can of corn kernels
a couple of carrots
add some soup mix & barlotti beans
simmer for about 30 minutes and throw in some pasta shells
simmer for about another 30 minutes and serve with toast (or crusty bread)

I've started up a bit of a friday night 'come and cook at my house' sorta night.

basically, people come over, cook up their fav meal and we all share it.

B$ got an invite to the first one, and wowed us with his hot mustard and brown sugar chicken. Next time we do it, I'll take pics of all that glorious fooooood...

Amytron - judging from those pictures alone, you are welcome anytime!! That chorizo paella looks tops!

ha ha ha ha ha, you know what?? My kitchen light fixture totally spazzed out, and the real estate didn't fix it for over 2 weeks, so we were using a lamp base in the kitchen, hence the sexual lighting! ha ha ha ha

Tonight’s dinner was veggie curry out of Camellia Panjabi’s 50 Great Curries of India (bit of a curry bible apparently)

This was how it was supposed to look:

But mine was green:

Had it with yoghurt and chickpeas

ok.

First one's called Palaak Paneer. It's this spinachy, ricotta, spicey indian type thing served on a bed of safron rice with a side of coriander and spiced yoghurt.

The second one is Leek and Thyme Tarte with a side salad of garden lettuce, roast capsicum and slow roasted tomatoes and garlic.

Your pierogi are shaped like dumplings.

Pierogi means pie.

My bf is standing here most confused by your picture. It's not what the ones we have look like. You've prolly got the same filling though just shape them differently.

They are like mini empanadas.

I made empanadas for dinner last night, but i over filled them and as they baked the split open and oozed like creatures from a 50s sci fi movie. They were the biz though.

Bit of info regarding pierogi

Pierogi (also perogi, perogy, piroghi, pirogi, or pyrohy) are filled Slavic dumplings. Most English-speakers treat these forms as singular and form the plural by adding -s, but a few consider them plural and form the singular by removal of the -i or -y. In Swedish however, the singular form is pirog and the plural form is created by adding -er at the end. The word itself comes from the Proto-Slavic "pir" (festivity)

Pierogi are semi-circular dumplings of unleavened dough, stuffed with cheese, sauerkraut, mashed potatoes, cabbage, onion, meat, mushrooms, hard-boiled eggs, dry cottage cheese (the last two are rather Mennonite-specific), or any combination thereof, or with a fruit filling like blueberry. Mashed potatoes with dry cottage cheese, onion and pepper are the most common filling.

They are typically fried, deep-fried or boiled until they float, and then covered with butter or oil; alternatives include the Mennonite tradition of baking and serving with borscht or with farmer's sausage and a creamy gravy called Schmauntfat in Plautdietsch, and the Polish way of boiling, then frying in butter.

Nanny has always twisted them. Not sure why.

Ok. Went to my self appointed godparents place for dinner yesterday. Mid-30s gorgeous Indian couple who look after me & make sure I don't need to eat for another 6 months
Only got a couple of shitty phone pics but we had
1. Home made samosas & spiced cashews
2. Carrot, pear & mandarin salad flavoured with mustard seeds & olive oil with some sort of crispy stuff on top. Can't remember what it was - starch/carbs of some kind. Strange combo but I liked it! (though I don't eat mandarins).
3. Rice thing (forgotten name) with lentils, peppercorns, cumin & some other stuff
4.

The white thing is char-grilled okra with yoghurt & the yellowish one is cauliflower, peas & some other stuff I can't remember. Never had okra before ... was really nice.
5.

Home made gulab jamun. Eckkk so sickly sweet, but sooo good!

I guess this isn't very exciting but it was tastey.

Potatoes with paprika
Pork chops drizzled with honey and the skin cut off and made into naughty crackle.

Cauliflower and carrots topped with a bit of cheese.

Heres some fried wontons (vietnam-style) that i made tonight.

Pic 1: Raw pork mix with onion, shallots, coriander, chilli and more in it

Pic 2: The babies frying away in my shiny new wok i bought today

Pic 3: Served with some coriander infused hot sweetchilli sauce

this was a trial because im adding some prawns to the mix tomorrow for some friends who are coming over. They were pretty tasty with pork alone though
