I'm slowly discovering more and more instances of "2-4-1", steaks under $10, and similarly cheap nights around Brisbane. I want to compile some sort of a list for the poorer weeks, and to encourage my tightass friends to come out more.

Here's what I can think of so far:

Transcontinental hotel - $5.95 steaks every night

Monday: Indro Hotel - choice of 2 mains for $10 (roast and veg + 1 other)

Tuesday: Caxton - 2 for 1 mains, Indro hotel - 2 for 1 mains, Alibi room - $2 tacos, $3 burritos, $4 coronas

Wednesday: RG's - $6.95 steak, I think the beachhouse in the city does a $6 steak too

Thursday and the weekends there isn't as much around, but i'm sure the well travelled and educated ITM community can offer some suggestions!

I live on the westside so am obviously much more aware of what's on over here.

Ice Bar at Teneriffe and Clayfield does 2-4-1 on a Tuesday night as well, pretty good steaks. They have something on a Thursday night too, I think it's $10 off each main meal or something like that, which equates pretty close to 2-4-1 anyway.

Wed and Thur - The Bank in the Valley Mall (Ann St end, opposite RG's) does 2-4-1 pizzas, and they are shit hot too. Get the lamb one, it's the business.

I just thought, jackpot noodles has a range of meals for less than $6, and you can get them any time the store is open!

$2 tacos at alibi room is great but be sure to get in early so you can get a seat. Tends to get very busy in there as the night progresses and it's hard it eat standing up if you're packing in shoulder to shoulder.

$9 hokkein stir fried noodles.

rg's do $6.95 (or $5.95 i cant remember) rump steak and chips/salad on wednesdays...its not bad either.

i do miss the shamrock cheap eats that's for sure!

teneriffe ice bar is better than clayfield, the last time i went there the vegies with my steak were to die for.

another vote for bank pizza's too

I dig RG's steak for what they charge.

In fact Killer lamb owes me a steak from there...

I always find Wok Me great value for money!
and YES! to Jackpot noodles too!
Cyber city has been a bit hit and miss for me, but they are cheap and the servings are generally huge!

I can't remember the name of it, but the place on the waterfront underneath Riparian in the city has 2 for 1 Pizza and Pasta on Tuesday nights, and other deals like a Pizza and jug of beer for $14 other nights.

Jubilee Hotel - $10.95 steak any night

Waterloo Hotel - $7 rump, chips and salad on a Friday night

Colmslie Hotel - 2 for 1 Tuesdays (food is really good!)

Also check out Thai Ways @ Albion, they have a budget take-away menu which is quite decent.

Beware of Indus @ Paddington and their 2 for 1, it's very limited and full of conditions, all of which mean it's not really much of a 2 for 1 deal or a discount. The food wasn't too bad though.

I can't vouch for the Jube and the Waterloo personally as I'm yet to experience their cheap steak delights.

This makes me want to do two for one tonight!

I went to Ice Bar with DRi last night and it was very good but they dont have the blue cheese sauce anymore!! Dissapointed!

What's the go with Vue in Newfarm?? Do they do a cheap eats night?? I though I heard that somewhere.

yeah Vue has $12 pasta on Tuesday and Saturday nights, it's great. Fresh and tasty and quite a big plate too.

They put through a LOT of people so they might be inconsistent. Last time I went there was before Christmas last year - good steak, medium rare, cooked nicely. It's not jump up and down good but for a suburban muckhole it's OK.

i reckon they must have changed chef or something as the menu is slightly different (no blue cheese sauce) and the portions are smaller.

They've always been pretty inconsistent but these days yeah, getting worse.

The Caxton seems to be the steady rock in Brisbane's Tuesday 241 madness.

This place doesn't have a daily special as such it's just good cheap food. Family owned Asian eatery in Stones corner about 25m from the Stones Corner Hotel (on the bottle shop road not the main strip). Table clothes are from the 80's, still has a blackboard for their menu very old place definitely no frills. $12 is the most you'll pay for a HUGE dish. We decided to eat in and I could only stomach half of my plate, the rest filled a takeaway container to the brim, it was a BIG meal. Food was good - been there twice and will def go back, when I do I'll be sure to jot down the name. It's just the two of them so if they're busy expect to wait a few minutes for your meal. The owner actually came out and had a chat to us for 5 mins once we'd finished our meal. They live up stairs so they're open till fairly late.

Just wanted to bump this thread up after trying to find cheap places on a Tuesday night to share what I've come across so far..

Calypso on Caxton street does $2 tacos on Tuesdays & $10 pizzas on Mondays with some live (albeit strange) music.
Caxton Hotel also does 2-4-1 meals, which I still wouldn't consider poor uni student friendly.
Casablanca on Caxton street also does 2-4-1 meals on Tuesdays which I'm yet to check out.
Melbourne Hotel does a pretty decent steak and mash/veg or chips/salad on Tuesdays for $15.

The Clarence Corner in Woolangabba has just been taken over by the people that used to run The Brew House in the city near Fatboys. They have 10 meals for $10 every night of the week and are actually pretty good.

New beers on tap too which is always a plus

never been there but that's super close to my place. i'll have to check it out, cheers!

the pineapple does good weekday specials

but the chalk probably does the best

steak+sauce+chips+salad plus a schooner of fat yak for $10 every day for lunch & dinner except fri/sat/sun. the steak is pretty tasty but it'd only be 175-ish grams, so not massive. but you can always get two

Cheap meals you got there, is it with nice ambiance? Would be best pair with free wine drinks too.. hehehe, maybe too much to ask.

yeah.. it's not bad hey!! you sit at stools rather than proper tables so it feels pretty casual. i would recommend checking it out.

also, jubilee does $2 steaks on sundays and $1 ribs on tuesdays. haven't been, but seems cheap!

we are going to check out onyx on park road, 2-4-1 mains for june.

also mirasol at paddington has a 2-4-1 tapas deal or something going...i cant find the email i got about it though!
