Yea got an expedit on the weekend. Perfect height for mixing, but I need to modify it somehow, it just doesn't fit 2 decks and 2 cdjs. Not sure whether I should put the decks battle style or get a stand for the cdj. Or just make it longer and put them all the way across?

i have 2 x cdj & 2 x tt's (they just fit battle style too) plus mixer & monitors on them so have the two expediets on their side in an L shape.

but i've just set my cdj's in a flight case so having to rearrange it all oer again now!

works really well if you have the room, plus it faces outside to my court yard which is awesome for partys etc.

My sisters got one and I was tempted to offer her a price for it. haha. I immediately thought of getting two besa bricks and putting them on their sides, then putting the unit on top. But the way the link has done it seems unreal!

I bought this today and the height is fine and i'm around 5'10. It just manages to fit my pair of truths, stanton 150 and 3 channel mixer. For $168 its a simple solution

haha, I've been using that exact bookcase for my set up for around 1.5 years now. works a treat.

would be a little too low for taller people though. works well with my 1200s at the moment but I'm in the process of upgrading to 2x cdjs, 1x 1200 so I'm not sure I can fit all that on there =(

Just bought an Expedit yesterday and got some "Capita" legs to give it a bit of extra height. They come in 11, 16 or 21 cm heights, so you can choose how much extra you need.

I personally found the plans for this DIY Ikea table shit as it is way too high and not enough room for your turntables sideways if your a hip hop DJ.

So here's my twist to it...

Ikea.

It's the Vika Amon table top. It's the exact same black/brown laminate finish as the black/brown Expedit shelves.

You can also get in the white finish which matches the white Expedit shelves.

The table top is a few mm wider than the shelves so it looks good if you position it right.

Awesome. Will probably head down this weekend and sort one out.
Can you post some pics w/ equipment on it?

Judging by that pic you should be able to fit the decks battle style w/ enough space for a laptop and speakers.

Correct. It's still work in progress. I'm currently putting in some cable management in (eg desktop cable holes and cable clips etc) and securing a 6way powerboard to the back.

On the lookout for a nice stand for the laptop and making some plinths for the powered monitors to raise them up.

Yeah I was keen on getting an Expedit but then realised I'd be fucked for a place to put my CDJ's so backed out of buying one.

A solution like that is exactly what's required I reckon.

very neat and well built. i'd be kinda worried about it tipping forward though... i think it might be wise to fix it to the wall perhaps. (if possible)
and ive found one thing annoying about the expedit is that the records can slide all the way through. im gonna put little pieces of wood at the back of the shelves to stop this

Hey TT, would you be looking a just a laptop stand or maybe a wall mounted job.

I've had 2 Expedit side by side for a while now and purchased a wall mounted TV brace from bunnings for the laptop. I found that if you mounted the tv bracket as intended it would protrude to far from the wall with the swing arm so I turn the swing arm in on itself so to speak when I attach it. The brand was Vogal's and only about $30.

In my case I don't have any windows close so I can have the laptop just below horizontal eye level.

I found the wall mounted laptop brilliant as it's free's up space and keeps the laptop visually close to the decks.

Cheers,
Bassbunker

I'm using a bar table from IKEA. Is the perfect size for 2 x TT and up to a DJM 600. Height is great and it comes in a great stainless steel and white combo that looks pretty tech.

Think it cost $100 or so. Photos are in that "post photo of your set up thread.."

Hey TT - I know there are a few threads on this but did you ever take any snaps of your completed Ikea set-up? Looking to do something similar...
