shit thread

everyone has pics, if your a dj or not. who gives a fuck?

if a sports person has a myspace (a footballer for example) and they have pics of them with a soccer ball, does that make them wanky? Are they trying to tell ppl they are shit hot? No, its just a pic ffs.

I got pics on my myspace as well, who cares. If someone is gunna offer you a free shoot then why not? You can use them for covers on your promo's, etc. But when it comes down to it, they are pics... seriously. Also if you do play a big event and there are pics up, you wanna save em, in memory of the wikkid gig you played at, and it only makes sense to chuck them up on your myspace seeings the myspace is for your promo.

ok ok there are exceptions, these kinda pics should be outlawed:

but this thread... shite!

Sorry what i was tryign to say is that the way he expresses his view comes across wrong and that it "appears" that he's taking the high ground on his issues.

But i deffinately agree that his points / observations are generally valid, and at least poses better discussion between people on here.

DJ may be serious business to some, but internet forums shouldnt be.

The same thing was almost going on in the postwar France of Sartre and Genet and what's more we knew about it--But as to the actual existence of a Beat Generation, chances are it was really just an idea in our minds--We'd stay up 24 hours drinking cup after cup of black coffee, playing record after record of Wardell Gray, Lester Young, Dexter Gordon, Willie Jackson, Lennie Tristano and all the rest, talking madly about that holy new feeling out there in the streets-
-We'd write stories about some strange beatific Negro hepcat saint with goatee hitchhiking across Iowa with taped up horn bringing the secret message of blowing to other coasts, other cities, like a veritable Walter the Penniless leading an invisible First Crusade-
-We had our mystic heroes and wrote, nay sung novels about them, erected long poems celebrating the new 'angels' of the American underground-
-In actuality there was only a handful of real hip swinging cats and what there was vanished mightily swiftly during the Korean War when (and after) a sinister new kind of efficiency appeared in America, maybe it was the result of the universalization of Television and nothing else (the Polite Total Police Control of Dragnet's 'peace' officers) but the beat characters after 1950 vanished into jails and madhouses, or were shamed into silent conformity, the generation itself was shortlived and small in number

They were pre-counter culture guerrilla marketing

Why do dorks post pointless threads and twist others peoples words just to suit their own meaninless pursuit of self attention...?

Why do some people only focus on the negitive aspect of things...???

Because that's all they know and thats all they'll be...attention seekers looking for gradification off wanking off about nothing....if they'd have a look at the postive side of things, then maybe they'd truely have something to offer...

No but you have an opinion on things that is out of step with the ITM 'norm', hence you shall be put down and labelled 'elitist', 'underground', 'on your high horse', labels all used in this case in a derogatory manner.

Perhaps some people have some kind of 'fear' that maybe the way they operate in DJ Land could be perceived as crass and superficial?? maybe

haven't read this page just posting to ask how many times a dead horse can be flogged and it still be thread worthy?

the horse is made into many many threads all under different guises then we have the same conversations in all the different horse threads

was interesting the first time the horse was posted and the first time we all talked about the horse and such and now it sorta makes me feel sad and in a way think less of the OP because i thought all dj's had a thing for being creative etc but maybe the OP is a mobile dj

It's ok funkedub, every DJ goes through their very own Holden Caulfield phase at some point... except maybe funky house DJs. Some even start playing guitar again.

it's a shallow world, even when the beats are deep.

funk, hip hop and breaks for the most part ... throw in the occasional housey or disco hit for added flavour.

they to tapas and other food and brutal cocktails.

it's not a "night club" type vibe .. but there's a dancefloor and it certainly gets used!! I've had everything from serious breakdancers busting moves to pretty girls requesting cheese. No techno shufflers though

generally 2 Djs are on any friday/saturday night ... 1st one 8:30-11:30, 2nd one 11:30 till the fat lady sings. sometimes i play friday ... sometimes i play saturday .. sometimes late .. sometimes early.

the other DJs vary ... sometimes housier ... sometimes cheesier, sometimes similar.

as a rule it's a balance between user friendly bar/dancefloor tunes and straight up funky goodness.

the other DJs vary ... sometimes housier ... sometimes cheesier, sometimes similar.

as a rule it's a balance between user friendly bar/dancefloor tunes and straight up funky goodness.

And how does one steal your spot at kalibar?

I love the older Global Underground covers... the ones where the guy who mixed it is just casually standing in front the city he was touring that inspired the mix are friggin cool...

the ones of a guy holding a record and pair of headphones when there's not a turntable in sight are lame though...

do you attach your photo to resumes when applying for jobs BTW?

Nothing wrong with handing out a CD with a nice photo printed up on it...

You might be happy getting CDs with a bit of rough texta scribble on it vs printed CD (from a promoter's perspective) ... Whether or not you are doesn't really matter to me if you're not the kind of promoter I'm trying to target, or that can land me (or other DJs) a dream gig...

We recently advertised for an IT support role where we asked all applicants to include a photo... don't ask me why, I'm not in HR, but we had over 150 applicants (all with photos) for the role...

At the end of the day who really cares?? if it's a casual photo or something that captures an image of their persona good on 'em... if not who cares?? It might simply be a token of their appeciation for decent photography for all we know...

lol at Armin van Buuren's A State of Trance 2007 CD cover... Looks a bit like the old the exboy band member goes solo image...

Wrong...

Thats him motioning slitting his throat because he has just had an epiphany and has come to the realisation that the music he spins is fucking woeful.

was interesting the first time the horse was posted and the first time we all talked about the horse and such and now it sorta makes me feel sad and in a way think less of the OP because i thought all dj's had a thing for being creative etc but maybe the OP is a mobile dj

hmmm
